About the Role


We are looking for a Legal Counsel for the Corporate Center & Group Functions.


 


In your role you:


• Provide legal advice and support for transactions primarily in the following areas:  surety; credit and political risk insurance; bank trade & infrastructure (trade & project finance).


• Conduct legal and regulatory due diligence on transactions, instruct and manage outside counsel (as needed), review/draft/negotiate deal documentation, provide legal sign-off or input for internal approval processes, participate in legal aspects of transaction structuring, participate in regulatory approval processes (if needed), facilitate the closing of transactions and support internal clients during implementation, restructuring and unwind of transactions.


• Provide legal support for new product development and general marketing efforts, as needed.


• Support internal group / cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives, as needed.


• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and trends affecting business areas and conduct or arrange internal presentations and trainings on legal topics.


 


About the Team


You will be part of a global team that provides legal support, in addition to the area of credit/political risk insurance, surety and other credit related products, to a variety of other areas including asset management, investments and derivatives.  We work closely with underwriters, marketers, product managers, risk managers, claims specialists and other legal and cross-functional colleagues on a global basis.  We work with experts in other disciplines and outside counsel (as needed) on complex and time-sensitive business opportunities. We share knowledge to promote consistency and increase the agility of the team.


 


About You


Qualification and Experience:


• Law degree and admission to practice (Switzerland, Germany, UK, US or other common law jurisdiction) with a minimum 4 years' qualification


• Experience in the banking/lending and/or other credit areas with a large law firm or international financial institution/(re)insurance company


• Knowledge and understanding of laws, regulations and documentation standards in  the areas of banking/lending/risk participations and/or credit & surety; familiarity with derivatives is a plus


• Experience and understanding  of regulatory and licensing topics in cross-border scenarios


• German and English fluency required, working knowledge of other languages is a plus
