The mission of WHO's UHC/Healthier Populations Division is to contribute to reducing health inequalities and reducing preventable disease and injury caused by environmental, social and economic determinants of health. This is achieved through a coordinated inter-sectoral approach aimed at enabling all people to enjoy better health and well-being, inline with the Organization's 13th General Programme of Work (GPW13) and the Sustainable Development Goals. The office of the Assistant Director-General (ADG) coordinates, guides and oversees the programmatic and administrative cohesion of the departments of the Division, ensuring optimum delivery of services and output in line with Governing Body resolutions, including the General Programmeof Work and the Programme Budget, and within the available resources. The office also aims at achieving synergies between individual programmes and their implementations, in compliance with the regulatory framework of the Organization. The One Health Initiative leads on the prevention of emerging zoonoses and onthe development of a WHO wide One Health approach. In particular it provides the Secretariat for the High-Level Expert Panel on one healthand emerging zoonoses; provides the Secretariat of the WHO Internal Coordination (WIC) Network on One Health; provides support to the One Health collaboration between FAO/OIE/UNEP/WHO (expanded tripartite); promotes the One Health related research agenda; contribute to the response toemerging zoonoses outbreaks; strengthens cross sectoral solutions and translate these into countries capacities and support.
Focussing on the One Health Initiative the incumbent will:
-Manage the OHHLEP Secretariat and coordinate the preparation of materials for thepanel meetings and support the preparation and dissemination of policy and technical advice emerging from the panel work.
-Support the coordination of the WHO internal One Health related activities.
-Leadthe rotating WHO Secretariat management of the expanded tripartite activities including the joint senior management annual meetings, and regular technical level meetings of the secretariat.
-Serve as senior OHHLEP reference among the peer community, Member States, cosponsorsand other UN Agencies, and other stakeholders.
-Oversee and develop proposals for One Health based risk reduction priorities to be addressed by OHHLEP, drawing on the scientific expertise and literature, recommendations of WHO advisory bodies, input from Member States andcosponsoring agencies, colleagues, managers and other stakeholders.
-Based on priorities products developed by OHHLEP, the incumbent will ensure the development and establishment of short-term operational plans and longer-termstrategic plans for implementation of these in WHO work.
-Coordinate the strengthening of collaboration with WHO regional offices to increase their capacities in One Health and its integration in their workplans and to ensure country level engagement in One Health adoption and integration in national plans.
-Commission and oversee the delivery of systematic reviews as requested by the OHHLEP inareas relevant to development of the Panel's products.
-Ensure the writing and preparation of technical progress reports to governing and advisory bodies, WHO reporting requirements, and donors on the Work of OHHLEP.
-Builds and maintains strong partnerships with governments, NGOs, private sector andother stakeholders to generate and use evidence for increased access to OneHealth Initiative.
-Contribute to the WHO fundraising activities for increased financial support to the One Health Initiative.
-Perform any other related duties, as required by the supervisors.
Essential: An advancedlevel university degree in food science, nutrition, veterinary medicine, public health, medical or biological science.
Desirable: A post graduate training in public health, zoonoses or One Health from an accredited/recognized institute.
Essential: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience working in and coordinating public health activities at the national and international levels.
Desirable: Experience in the management of international expert groups. Experience in surveillance and risk assessment of infectious diseases. Experience in project design and management at national or international level. Prior working experience with WHO, the UN, health cluster partners, recognized humanitarian organizations or other international organizations, including at country level.
-Extensive knowledge and skills in international public.
-A solid understanding of One Health approach and a good understanding of the role of WHO, FAO, OIE and UNEP in One Health
-Demonstrated ability to deliver projects involving multiple partners, conduct operational activities, analyses, and interact in complex technical, political and cross-cultural situations.
-Field investigation skills.
-Ability to function effectively in a team setting in across-cultural environment.
-Good knowledge of the operations of WHO andunderstanding of the principal stakeholders as well as an understanding of the UN system and the international development partners.

Desirable:
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 89,837 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 6259 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
