Key Responsibilities
Leverage strong connections with journalists in target markets and coordinate media & social media strategies with local partners or PR agencies.
Work with colleagues across departments to communicate complex issues to diverse audiences and formulate messaging and talking points in time-sensitive and high-stakes situations.
Secure earned media placement around positive Global Fund moments and milestones, such as the release of programmatic results, new donor funding announcements, innovations in the fight against the three diseases etc.
Write news releases, op-eds, summaries and briefing papers on Global Fund work and key issues.
Handle media inquiries and coordinate responses and interviews.
Plan and manage in-country media trips with key journalists to visit and cover Global Fund supported programs.
Manage media invitation, attendance and on-site coordination at Global Fund events globally.
Engage and leverage diverse voices across the Global Fund partnership to maximize opportunities across both traditional and social media channels.
Collaborate closely with peers in global health and development partner organizations.
Monitor external trends and track analytics to inform the organisation’s external positioning.
Provide strategic communications guidance, including media training and coaching for staff and advocacy partners
Perform People Management responsibilities.

Qualifications
Essential:
Advanced university degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, International Development or a related field.
Experience
Essential:
Solid experience in journalism, public relations, or a related communications field.
In-depth understanding of communications operations, principles and practices.
Track record of excellent writing, editing and oral communications skills;
Proven ability to use advanced problem-solving skills and political judgment in sensitive situations; Proven adaptability and suitability
Track record of being solution-oriented, proactive, dynamic, creative and innovative.
Track record of excellent interpersonal and team-building skills, and being able to manage external and internal relationships
Demonstrated open attitude to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
Desirable:
Over 4-6 years’ experience in journalism, public relations, or related communications field.
Experience working in a large, preferably global organization;
Experience working in a developing country;
Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
In-depth understanding of international relations and development.
Over 2 years of people management experience
