Overall purpose of role
An Investment Advisor (IA) is the conduit into investments for Wealth Relationship Managers and clients. While accompanying Relationship Managers on client meetings, IAs will be the technical strength assessing the needs and risk appetite for clients and translate this into proposals for overall asset allocation, specific products and investment services. The IA’s role is also to follow up on the investments made in order to give the client, together with the relationship manager an ongoing level of investment advice which stands out in the competitive wealth management environment.
Driven by targets, IAs will proactively and substantially acquire profitable new investment business and increase existing client wallet share. The client interaction by the IA will give an additional opportunity to provide feedback to the product specialist teams in order to further customise our product proposition to client needs.

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
Person Specification
Professional/technical experience
The right candidate will have in-depth and broad investment product knowledge as well as a strong understanding of broad asset allocation issues, and have the ability to assimilate complex investment information. The right candidate will also have the technical skills and experience with respect to designing and /or selling of derivates and structured products across asset classes. You will have at least a basic understanding of wealth and estate planning issues.
Drawing on your substantial experience communicating with clients you will be able to demonstrate superior selling skills with a proven record for closing. With your effective listening skills you’ll be skilful at matching client’s investment needs to appropriate proposition and product set.
Academic and professional qualifications
You will be of graduate calibre and have the local investment qualifications to allow investment advice to be given. CFA / CAIA charter a plus.
Language skills
Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills are a critical requirement of the position. Whilst second languages are not an essential requirement of this position, candidates with additional languages skills are at a distinct advantage.
