Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.


We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our Global Risk team, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.


In this role, you will:


As Deputy Pod lead, this role supports



  • To Support and manage the team leads and coordinate the projects execution 

  • Take the lead on projects when necessary

  • Work with the Pod lead on resource allocation, roadmap definition, strategy and capacity plan

  • Coordination, production and delivery of various projects to support AML Risk Models needs for GPB

  • Provide advanced data analytics related to anti money laundering and transactions monitoring in the Banking & Investment area following Financial Crime Compliance standards

  • Understand the AML data Model in order to design bespoke business reports and to simulate the Risk model. Identification of patterns and potential outliers within the model

  • Follow up on Model Risk Governance, address audit points related to global or regulatory requirements and propose action plan. Analyze local needs, follow up with Risk Owners and escalate if any issue

  • Build and manage effective, long term relationships with key stakeholders


This role requires 



  • Adherence to relevant Global Standards methodologies in the tasks execution

  • Adherence to change control model for the effective and efficient delivery of actions

  • Adherence to Change Control programme

  • Prevent any reputational risk to HSBC by implementing changes to policies and rules within agreed timeframes


Impact on the Business/Function 



  • Act as team leader and technical lead for Project leads & Senior analysts and coordinate the projects execution

  • Supports delivery of data analysis and calculations for relevant projects in timely manner and high quality standards

  • Supports data integrity and testing of new systems

  • Enhances existing automated suspicious activity transaction monitoring systems. 
    Adheres to Group and regulatory standards, the delivery of analytical tasks and supporting agreed operating plan goals and the day-to-day business requirements

  • Adheres to relevant Global Standards methodologies in the tasks execution

  • Adheres to change control model for the effective and efficient delivery of actions

  • Support the delivery the GRA FCR requirements for all AML TM Compliance risk models

  • Build positive momentum for change across the organization with the proactive support and buy-in of all stakeholders

  • Assign tasks and roles effectively to ensure maximum productive utilization of resources

  • Assure the global standards for relevant models and analytics adhere to HSBC model governance and regulatory demand

  • Provision of analytics to identify new risk trends and risks and recommend model or control amendments to address

  • Promote a culture of data driven decision making, aligning short term decisions and investments with longer term vision and goals


Customers / Stakeholders 



  • Ac as Deputy of Pod lead for stakeholder engagement

  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets

  • Develop close and effective working relationships with Global Business, Regional & Functions to ensure impacted parties are well informed from a Group / Regional perspective on region and best practice sharing  

  • Engage stakeholders at the right level, on the right issues and in the appropriate context to obtain a deeper understanding of their business and responsibility, their requirements and the impacts of the services and products GRA FCC offer

  • Build trust and credibility with stakeholders in order to objectively engage them and where appropriate challenge their views

  • Demonstrate analytical thinking, sound judgment, critical analysis


Leadership & Teamwork 



  • Support and manage the team leads and coordinate the projects execution. can also lead projects when necessary

  • Help identify, share and implement best practice and ensure all people, processes and systems operate in a consistent manner

  • Support Line Management by provision of analysis in delivering key AML TM goals

  • Provision of day to day TM system analytics support

  • Work effectively with peers and stakeholders across the FCC, GRA FCR and IT functions

  • Foster positive and professional working relationships within FCC, Global and Regional GRA FCR and colleagues throughout the Group

  • Maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with colleagues at the Group and Regional levels

  • Ensure understanding of functional goals within GRA FCR

  • Support diversity and reflect the HSBC values

 

Qualifications

 

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:



  • Proven ability and experience on leading team of technical analysts 

  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in data analysis and/or application development; Finance, Banking and AML Compliance specific experiences preferred

  • Good understanding of the business activities for a large global banking group with diverse operations from retail banking, wealth management, commercial banking, global banking, investments, transaction services, asset management, private banking and insurance

  • Familiarity with AML issues and transaction monitoring systems

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience

  • Strong analytical skills required to organize, analyze multiple complex data sets, use statistical functions and methods

  • Proficiency in analytics laguage such as SQL, SAS, R, Python 

  • Machine learning experience is a plus

  • Data Modelling and Experience in Google analytics, AWS is a plus

  • Understanding and proven experience in advanced statistical methods/functions

  • Strong technical skills with experience using Oracle and MS Excel (advanced functions)

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and creative thinking skills required

  • Excellent planning and prioritization skills are essential

  • Enthusiastic, proactive, self-starter with a drive to deliver high quality deliverables

  • Strong ability to quickly grasp and understand specific AML risks, ability to work under high pressure and aggressive deadlines

  • General understanding of market place AML issues and AML suspicious activity transaction monitoring systems, data mining/analytical tools, and KYC automated solutions is helpful

  • Detail-orientated, strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Understanding business requirements and ability to convert these into positive systems changes

  • A working knowledge of Lotus Notes, Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Visio and PowerPoint

  • A flexible approach to working with the ability to travel to other entities within HSBC

  • Ability to review processes and controls across the Business

  • Strong communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written) and ability to convey information in a way that is clear, succinct, and easily understood by non-analysts and senior executives 

  • Excellent analytical skills with good eye for detail and ability to draw and support conclusions or anticipate outcomes from data trends or system documentation

  • Be able to generate and maintain positive relationships within the team and across the business
