Job summary

The Swiss Red Hat Sales team is looking for a Senior Application Deployment Specialist Architect to join  us in Zurich, Switzerland. In this role, you will use your experience with containers, virtualization, management, orchestration, and application runtimes technologies to help our customers derive business value from their Red Hat OpenShift environment. You’ll work with our customers to understand their current and desired state of container and cloud-native application adoption. Ultimate success in the role is to help customers reach their desired state through the use of the Red Hat portfolio. You’ll need to have deep technical expertise, passion for open source, a thorough understanding of business processes, and the ability to identify and create business value at the enterprise level. As a Senior Application Deployment Specialist Architect, you will specialize in Red Hat’s container and application technologies, architectures, and solutions in public, private, and hybrid cloud environments, integrating the same with 3rd party tools necessary for cloud-native application development and deployment.

Primary job responsibilities

• Help customers evolve from thinking about Red Hat OpenShift as infrastructure to business value


• Work closely with the hybrid cloud lead in Switzerland


• Manage adoption and consumption of Red Hat OpenShift commensurate with customer metrics


• Become a virtual Red Hat member of the customer’s team, enabling and mentoring customers in the development and deployment of applications on Red Hat OpenShift


• Gain deep understanding of customer’s business and IT environments and serve as an advocate for customer priorities with Business teams


• Gain and develop an understanding of the customer’s current state architecture, key metrics,  workloads, development environment, lines of business concerns, and coordinate with partners and Red Hat Consulting


• Work with customers to survey their application portfolio for items that could deploy on Red Hat OpenShift, based on the cumulative experience and knowledge from working with other customers


• Will be able to work with the Global Learning Services (GLS) department to do customer skills assessment within their domain of expertise to come up with a plan for upskilling our customers


• Deliver and lead customer events for onboarding and enablement to Red Hat OpenShift as an application platform to increase customer success

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of application runtimes, enterprise container architectures and solutions, Red Hat OpenShift and competitive solutions, Linux, and deploying and running container solutions in private, public, and hybrid clouds


• Ability to work as a part of a team


• Very good understanding of DevOps maturity models


• Ability to have conversations at multiple levels of a customer from decision makers, to DevOps, to architects, developers, and infrastructure


• Experience with agile frameworks and principles with deep knowledge of agile methods and practices


• Experience with a digital transformation effort as part of a consulting team or as a customer


• Experience with formal and objective application portfolio rationalization


• Experience in application development and enterprise application architecture, including microservices; experience in field engineering presales is a plus


• Experience in delivering applications to production with Java development technologies and frameworks


• Experience with configuring and consuming modern application delivery tools, in development and deployment of applications to production


• Experience with instrumenting, collecting, and radiating development and operational metrics


• Excellent communication and presentation skills in French and business-level English, with a record of developing relationships at technical, management, and executive levels


• Willingness to travel up to 80%
