Job Description


The Supply Chain Business Ops and Strategy Lead is a key member of the Global Supply Chain Core Leadership Team and is responsible for ensuring the Biogen Supply Chain ecosytem is best positioned to deliver on its strategy and business priorities. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Supply Chain, the role is empowered to optimize how the supply chain ecosystem operates through the supply chain team and our external partners and market, and prioritization of the implementation of strategic initiatives aligned with Pharmaceutical Operations and Technology (PO&T) and Biogen’s priorities. This position will provide decision foundation to the global supply chain leadership teams. This position will lead through influence, lead cross-functional teams within supply chain. Focus of the role is on assessing the external landscape for supply chain trends, (including technology, go to market and global growth, and bring information to the leadership teams and stakeholders for organizational to alignment and to develop strategic direction to elevate the Biogen Supply Chain brand in the market. Offer business and strategic mentorship for middle managers and fill in temporary gaps for leadership teams during organizational transitions as appropriate and depending on incumbents experiences


Principal Accountabilities



  • Geographies Owns and Builds on the Biogen SC Vision, Purpose, Brand and Strategy, fully integrated with the Biogen and PO+T   Strategy, focused on Value Creation/Brand for Biogen and Patients. Offer recommendations on potential operating model and approaches that leverage external resources/consulting partners for what work in predictable at targeted for automation vs what work drive SC strategy.  Drive agree upon SVP SC approval and direction and with PO&T functional leaders.  Offer Program and Project leadership to matrix teams to drive priorities to completion, budget, planning, communication, and integration across all GSC functions and Geographies

  • Orchestrates the Supply Chain Neuroscience ecosystem and governance across Supply Chain and Internal and External key stakeholders. Demonstrate strong leadership of a cross-functional/stakeholder information flow and roles/ responsibilities within Biogen. Oversees and manages the flow of information/key decisions across functions including business and planning processes, strategic management meetings, communications, and reporting. This includes managing partnerships and other external organizations that build our SC profile – our SC brand image – social media with external partners, suppliers, employment brand etc

  •      o   Partner with Corporate Responsibility, PR, HR, EH&S and Corp Communication on building SC brand awareness.

  •      o   Secure LT presence or act as a Biogen SC representative via speaking engagements at external conference to build Biogen SC presence and influence in the Supply Chain global community.

  •      o   Drive and ensure Digital learning and capability build within the Biogen SC Ecosystem. Challenge current approaches and capabilities and bring different approaches within our Digital Value Creating Area, Commercial and Clinical Supply Chain.

  • Partners with our Operational Excellence Team and Pillar Leads and identifies continuous improvements to enhance end-to- end visibility and Biogen and Patient Value Creation. 

  • Acts as a key advisor to the Head of GSC and GSC Core LS Team. Compile Risk management assessment for SVP presentations to BOD– prepare material, analytics, and trends connected with overall SC Strategy; offer details and framework for leadership presentations.  Assesses benefit/costs analysis on existing consulting arrangements such as with $4M spend in PLM outsourced model and partnership with D&L with a proposal for changes or tradeoffs to SC LT.  Offer recommendations and trades off for these and other GSC Functions.

  • Leads & runs the GSC Core LS meetings and GSC Organization Connect and Engage sessions. Prioritizes agenda; drives key decisions and strategic topics; partners with presenters; prepare and issue meeting summaries and follow-ups with owners/due dates. Owns our Keeping Our Promises and Coaching Forums.     

  • Budget accountability. Oversee the headcount, fees & services, and systems funding needs on a quarterly and yearly basis. Key liaison and interface with our GSC Finance business partner and the PO&T finance organization with regard to financial impact of strategic initiatives and investments, with program management, portfolio management, human resources, R&D and commercial organization and other key functions.

Qualifications


Education


Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Science, Engineering or similar education required; Master’s degree in one of these fields preferred.


 


Required Skills



  • Minimum 10 years working experience in a highly complex corporate environment or equivalent

  • People management experience and/or cross functional management experience

  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills to attain buy-in from different stakeholders

  • Experience within a global and regulated environment

  • Able to deal with high levels of ambiguity and complexity. Anticipates potential risks, develops contingency plans, and is capable to drive and own strategic and/or complex decisions

  • Exceptional team player and ability to develop strong network across the company
