Summary


To complement our team in Baden-Dättwil (Switzerland), we are looking for a Software Development Engineer for Medical Applications – C#, .NET


We develop state-of-the art medical devices and elements to support optical monitoring, patient setup and patient identification solutions.  With our devices we support most of Varian’s treatment delivery systems for the Oncology market and in the CT-SIM room using 2D and 3D camera technologies.  As an application SW Engineer, you work on the complete front-end of our application ranging from the user interface, underlying business logics, down to integrating algorithms and interfaces to the embedded part of the device.  With practical experience in OO analysis, design and SW development and a flair to work in a real machine context you closely work in a cross-functional team of highly motivated and experienced HW and SW Engineers.  You are used to take over responsibilities in your area and can work self-sufficient.


Duties & Responsibilities



  • Designs, develops, and maintains object-oriented application Software for our 3D camera systems and other remote sensing systems.  This includes but is not limited to SW infrastructural elements for image processing algorithms, data streaming, and 2D/3D UI displays.

  • Supports independent System Qualification Engineering (SQE) team, Product Support Engineering (PSE) and field representatives in troubleshooting, bug fixing and Engineering verification tasks.

  • Collaborates with Systems Engineering, HW, and algorithmic teams to ensure system integration is complete and overall performance is met.

  • Is responsible for the entire Software Development Life Cycle, which includes but is not limited to:

    • Creates and maintains Engineering internal documentation compliant with our quality system.

    • Provides input for technical publications and support the writing of procedures for installation and maintenance.

    • Performs Engineering-verification using emulators and actual HW.

    • Debugs defects found by the independent test team, or where needed supports our PSE team with technical input during field investigations.


  • May interact with product management and users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.

  • Supports marketing – and if required – sales department in architectural and compatibility questions.

  • Builds up a domain knowledge in radiation therapy, particularly in the area of imaging, 3D camera systems, and remote sensing in general.  Keeps up to date with the latest technologies and tools that may be beneficial to our developments and products.

  • Stays compliant with the company’s quality assurance procedures and guidelines.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications


ESSENTIAL (Minimum Requirements)



  • High level capabilities gained through strong and demonstrable professional work experience using C# and .NET.  C++ experience or willingness to acquire such knowledge is essential.

  • B.Sc., B.Eng. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

  • Good level of written and verbal English language skills.

  • Familiar with state-of-the-art SW development tools and methods.

  • Sound OS knowledge (Windows).

  • Experience in documentation within a regulated environment.


DESIRABLE (not essential, but highly advantageous)



  • Medical Device Industry work experience

  • Hands-on experience with application SW operating on hardware is a plus

  • Additional Ubuntu OS knowledge is a plus.
