Patent Attorney

We are recruiting a qualified European Patent Attorney to join our Intellectual Property department. You will report to the Head of Global Intellectual Property and are based in our office in Zug.

You will:

• Counsel management on all manner of arising intellectual property matters


• Manage relationships with Science and Technologymanagers within our both our Fragrance & Active Beauty and Taste & Well-Being divisions, as well as adjacent business functions


• Draft, prosecute and maintain a portfolio of patents


• Negotiate and draft IP related aspects of agreements with third-party collaborators and service providers


• Oversee IP risk management


• Manage third-party IP disputes and other contentious proceedings


• Represent the IP department at Science and Technology management meetings

You have:

• Qualification as a European Patent Attorney or an equivalent national qualification; preference for dual qualification, that is, European Patent Attorney and a registered attorney before a relevant national office, such as US, UK, or DE offices


• Advanced degree (at least Masters level, and preferably a PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. chemical/biological science)


• At least 3 years post-qualification experience in either a law-firm or an industrial practice 


• Business fluent in English


• Knowledge of patent and intellectual property laws globally


• Substantial practical experience negotiating and drafting intellectual property aspects of collaboration agreements


• In-depth knowledge of the fragrance, food and cosmetics industries
