The EMEA Property Underwriting and innovation team is looking to hire a pricing / digital actuary to drive pricing initiatives for Property in Europe, Middle East and Africa. You thrive for digital solutions and will be involved in shaping new and innovative products tailored to the needs of the end consumer and our clients. You will lead the pricing and structuring of innovative products.

You will be part of a team of more than 40 property underwriters and innovation experts based across the five main locations Zurich, London, Paris, Munich and Cape Town. You will closely collaborate with relevant external stakeholders such as our clients or distribution partners and internal functions such as client managers, business development, business management, and other experts.
 

About your role

• Your main responsibility will be to build tariffs and pricing models for a range of general insurance products with focus on personal lines property insurance. 


• You will represent Swiss Re in client conversations and offer advice on how primary insurers can optimize their tariffs or co-create new products together with us


• You will use actuarial and data science techniques to uncover insights and trends to improve risk selection or steer the portfolio.


• You conduct portfolio and rate reviews to monitor performance. 


• You will work closely together with other functions like Cat Perils to leverage our existing Cat modelling tools


• You work with our clients in their journey to digitize by designing / upselling / cross-selling innovative mass market general insurance products fit for distribution on an online platform / mobile app.


• You would be willing to move gradually into a dual role, where you could also be responsible for underwriting property treaty reinsurance deals

About you

• You have at least a master's degree in actuarial science, mathematics or statistics; actuarial certification is a plus


• You have at least 5 years of experience in pricing general insurance personal lines / bite-sized / SME insurance products (ideally meant for digital distribution) across multiple markets in EMEA


• You have led technical (incl. research) components of product development initiatives and know how to influence technical stakeholders in order to launch a product.


• You have successfully launched innovative general insurance products in the EMEA market.


• You have extensive knowledge of primary insurance solutions and a comprehensive understanding of the general insurance sector.


• You know the primary value chain and know how to technically implement solutions and products (end-to-end).


• You have state-of-the-art knowledge of actuarial methods like dynamic pricing and forward-looking modelling


• Your English is excellent, and any additional European languages are a plus.
