Of course, change is hard and careful planning is necessary. But, too often that planning is slow, analysis is fraught with assumptions and (let’s face it) often ends up being wrong.
VMware App Navigator is a service offering created in the belief that when change is hard, iteration is best. We deliver using specialized techniques and tooling that help our consultants, working alongside customers, enable tangible results in days and weeks, not months and years. VMware is doubling down on this approach and growing our team of solution and program architects. We are looking for collaborative people with a passion for customer enablement and outcomes to lead short and impactful Navigator engagements that focus across a broad spectrum of cloud application and platform technologies.
You are a pragmatic, dynamic and thoughtful leader of people and programs with a strong passion for agile and lean principles. You thrive in a complex ecosystem, collecting, sharing, and synthesizing input from many directions and enabling your team to continuously deliver customer value. You love change and feel energized working in new situations with new people. You feel comfortable working with senior stakeholders to define and manage priorities. You are able to communicate technical and programmatic information at the right level of detail for the appropriate varied audiences. Above all, you judge your success by the success of your team and the happiness of our customers.
As Program Strategist, you will pair with client stakeholders, product owners, business people and technical teams to discover existing software portfolios, identify value streams and define methods of incremental improvement. You will enable, coach and lead customers through a variety of agile / lean processes: facilitating workshops, leading inceptions, iterating planning, midpoint reviews and outceptions. You will have responsibility for Navigator engagement success, and pay close attention to staffing, team satisfaction, timelines, and scope completion. You will work closely with sales prior to engagement start (understanding context and handling logistical readiness) and during closeout (to help secure next steps, if applicable).
App Navigator roles are highly collaborative, with 80% of time spent in direct, 1:1 pairing or larger team collaboration. During the COVID-19 crisis, this collaboration is managed remotely, with the expectation that face-to-face engagement in a VMware or customer office will be required once the crisis is resolved. At this future date, you may be asked to travel up to 50% of the time.
