Senior IT Platform Engineer

Your field of responsibility

 

Automation – You will have a clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles, and will be eager to automate, wherever and whenever the possibility arises, while simultaneously eliminating technical debt.
Service Ownership – You will be part of the IT engineering team, whose mission is the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas, with our Business Development partners and multiple corporate service providers.
Software Development & Operations Engineering – You will understand and be able to communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes and requirements of the services you own.
Reusability & Ease of Adoption – You will be adopting, improving and producing documentation, tools and services using an internal open source model.


Your future colleagues

This position is a hands-on senior IT automation engineering role for the Global Trading Systems (GTS) team based in Zurich, Switzerland. Our team designs and delivers the automation used for the deployment, operations and monitoring of multiple services provide to the GTS Cross Asset Execution department.

This position requires working closely with development and support teams around the world ensuring the quality of mission critical trading systems. We focus on doing great engineering and great communication.

Your skills and experience

 

As an IT Platform engineer, you will solve interesting technical challenges by working with multiple teams in the definition, crafting, and deployment of services, platforms, and infrastructure, always thinking about reliability, scalability, resilience, security, and performance.
The following skills are the most relevant for this position:



  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Advanced experience using Linux, should be familiar with syscalls, namespaces and cgroups

  • Advanced experience building Docker images and deploying to Kubernetes and/or OpenShift

  • Deep understanding on HTTP in general and with REST APIs client/server in particular

  • Fundamental understanding on network connectivity, should be familiar with layer 4 and layer 7 balancing/routing technology

  • Good understanding on Public Key Infrastructure, should be familiar with  CAs, SSL/TLS; mTLS; etc)

  • Must have solid programming experience with Python3

  • Must be familiar with GitOps and declarative configuration management

  • Solid experience developing Jenkins declarative pipelines

  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic and other awesome open source software is a bonus
