swisspeace is a practice and research institute dedicated to advancing effective peacebuilding. Partner-ships with local and international actors are at the core of our work. Together, we combine competence and creativity to reduce violence and promote peace in contexts affected by conflicts. In collaboration with the University of Basel swisspeace offers a number of postgraduate programs and courses for peacebuilding professionals from around the world.

To support its Central Services team, swisspeace is looking for an

Intern Human Resources (80 - 100%)

Starting date: 1 September 2021 or by agreement
Duration: 6 months (extension possible)
Gross salary per month: CHF 1, 500 (100%) for bachelor students or bachelor graduates; CHF 2, 400 (100%) after completion of the master's degree

The Central Services at swisspeace ensure smooth operation of finance, human resources, IT and other administrative and logistical processes


Your position



  • Collaboration in a variety of interesting HR tasks e.g. recruitment, on-boarding and off-boarding, payroll, contract management, obtaining of work permits and more.

  • Maintenance of staff files and diverse process controls and follow-ups.

  • Contribute to the optimization and documentation of internal processes.

  • Facilitation of (online) welcome events for new staff.

  • Other administrative support as needed.


Your profile



  • You are studying business administration or a similar discipline or have just graduated and you are looking for an opportunity to gain work experience in operative HRM.

  • You are well organized, attentive to details and you have a strong interest in HR-related topics.

  • You have excellent Microsoft Office skills. Experience with Microsoft Share Point is an asset.

  • You have a good command (C1) of English and German. French skills are an asset.

  • First work experience is a strong asset
