Who We Are

Founded in 2017, Unit8 is a fast-growing Swiss AI and data analytics company dedicated to solving complex problems of traditional industries like automotive, chemical, finance, manufacturing and pharma. We work with some of the biggest organisations in Europe to solve the challenges that directly affect their business - be it operations, finance, manufacturing or R&D. Since our foundation, we have successfully delivered more than 50 projects.

Unit8’s mission is to drive the adoption of AI and Data Science in the non-digital industries and to help accelerate their digital transformation. Among its activities, Unit8 dedicates a part of its resources and time on projects that deeply matter to us - that includes collaboration on pro-bono and “engineering for good” cases.

Requirements

What is this Internship Programme about?

Unit8 is welcoming new interns for our internship programme in Data Science! Join us for a 5-6 months paid tailor-made programme starting in September, with direct exposure to clients' needs and opportunities to take part in learning activities such as Reading Groups and Knowledge Sharing Sessions. In addition, all interns will be accompanied by a mentor who will guide and help them building their technical growth vision.

As an intern, you will join a team of Data Scientists and Data Engineers who work hand-in-hand with our customers on designing and implementing their industry-specific use cases. You will be directly involved in discussing the client’s challenges and needs and will have a chance to develop your client-facing skills.

In general, you will:

• Put your knowledge about data science and machine learning into practice by tackling challenges such as production optimisation, forecasting or entity resolution.


• Use your technical skills to develop internal infrastructure projects or contribute to our open source data library.


• Understand, interpret and present data and insights to a variety of technical and business audiences.

Are You the team member we are looking for?

In order to be successful in this role, you are/have:

• Freshly graduated/pursuing your BSc/MSc in CS or related major


• Fluent in Python or at least one JVM based programming language


• Prior work/practical experience with AI/ML (would be a plus)


• Interest in data engineering and big data challenges


• Comfortable to interact with technical and business people


• A Swiss/EU/EFTA national or holding a valid Swiss work permit


• Available at least 4 full days a week (80%)
