As Director of Corporate Communications EAME/SWA you are responsible for the communications strategy across EAME (Europe, Africa and Middle East) and Southwest Asia (exclusive of India) with the overall goal to drive brand preference and protect brand reputation for Hyatt and its sub-brands in the region. The position will spearhead all corporate, brand and colleague communication efforts in the region, working in close alignment with Hyatt’s global corporate and brand communications strategy. In this role you will also be responsible to lead all crisis and issues communications in the EAME/SWA region and act as a counsel and advisor in all communications related matters to hotel teams and other department managers.

  • Lead all corporate, brand and colleague communications efforts in the EAME/SWA region, working in close alignment with the Global Communications team in Hyatt’s corporate office in Chicago and in tandem with regional peers in Marketing, Brands, Sales & Revenue, Digital and Loyalty.

  • In conjunction with key stakeholders in the business, develop strategic communications programs in support of Hyatt’s corporate and brand communications objectives and implement those initiatives across EAME/SWA in a way that delivers measurable results.

  • Spearhead a communications program to position Hyatt as a preferred brand (both consumers and B2B) and work on a dedicated brand differentiation program for Hyatt’s sub-brands to generate brand awareness within the right target groups. Work in close alignment with both the corporate communications and the global brands team in Chicago.

  • Create an infrastructure and culture to support hotels in the region with corporate and brand communications initiatives.

  • Guide hotel communications strategies and objectives to create strong brand awareness and influence revenue generation particularly for the key brand-builder hotels in the region.

  • Spearhead an integrated communications program designed to drive preference for Hyatt among developers and potential developers to differentiate Hyatt and its brands from its competitors and create advocacy for Hyatt as an operator of choice, leveraging development conferences, speaking opportunities and B2B platforms such as LinkedIn. Oversee the development of content and messages that differentiate Hyatt and its brands in the minds of this key audience and that speak to Hyatt’s growth, both in existing and go-to markets.

  • Develop and lead an Executive visibility program for key members of the regional and global leadership team, leveraging speaking opportunities at interviews, conferences or on online platforms. Oversee the development of messaging documents and briefing materials.

  • Lead all corporate crisis and issues communication in EAME/SWA and serve as a guardian of Hyatt’s corporate and brand reputation in the region.

  • Act as a first responder for all crisis and issues occurring on hotel level. Provide counselling to hotel General Managers and other senior leadership members when special situations occur.

  • Act as spokesperson for the company on designated corporate issues/positions, and in response to media inquiries.

  • Support and guide efforts to leverage new hotel openings, acquisitions, conversions and renovations to create awareness of and enthusiasm for Hyatt’s position as an industry leader and its prospects for growth that will drive preference. Act as a counsel to hotel teams in their pre-opening strategy.

  • Partner closely with the development team to support them in all questions with regards to Hyatt’s brand strategy; work on and participate in pitch presentations, leveraging Hyatt’s brand positioning and brand differentiation strategy.

  • Strategize and localize the strategic priorities of the organization, such as Advancing Care, Hyatt’s DE&I initiatives and Wellbeing to create relevance for the region.

  • Leverage internal and external resources (corporate PR and creative agencies) to maximize productivity, results and message consistency.

  • Lead and nurture Marketing and Communications talent in the Region including colleagues on corporate and hotel level.

  • Develop strong relationships with leaders of key functions across the organization, including department heads in Commercial Services, operations and Development, as well as General Managers and Area Vice Presidents in the region.

  • Develop relationships and maintain active contact with local/regional/national and international press that will benefit Hyatt.

  • Identify current industry and lifestyle trends that create opportunity to position Hyatt as an industry leader and expert resource for news media.


 


Who are you?



  • You have a high degree of personal and professional savvy and experience which instills confidence among all internal and external audiences.

  • You have a minimum of 15 years’ Corporate and Brand Communications experience, including managerial/supervisory roles, preferably within the travel and tourism sector, either on the corporate or agency side.

  • You preferable have public company experience as well as experience to work in a multi-brand multi-national organization across all continents.

  • You have extensive media relations/spokesperson experience.

  • You have the ability to lead through consensus building and strong mentoring orientation.

  • You have experience in establishing credibility and presenting programs and ideas persuasively to strong individuals in leadership positions.

  • You have a high level of energy and enthusiasm.

  • You have previous long-standing experience in crisis communication and special situations management.

  • You have proven ability to write and edit a wide range of materials, including press releases, issue statements, key messages, speeches and other documents.

  • You are a conceptual, strategic and creative thinker, with unquestionable integrity

  • You are agile, stimulated by challenges and open-minded.

  • You are fluent in English (verbal/written), any other language (preferably Arabic, French, German, Spanish) is a plus.

  • Ability and willingness to travel, also at short notice.

  • You are flexible and open for additional tasks within the Commercial Services Department.

  • You are located in London (UK) or Zurich (Switzerland) or willing to relocate there.
