The site in Visp, Switzerland is growing and for our Biologics organization, we are seeking experienced Bioprocess Engineers  with significant work experience in Upstream Processing and a passion for Biotechnology to join our Lonza talent community. Key responsibilities:



  • As Principal Bioprocess Engineer USP, you will manage operational activities in Upstream manufacturing, e.g. tech transfer support, material planning, document and batch record preparation, training and troubleshooting, deviation handling


  • Act as a functional lead for an interdisciplinary team of production personnel, supervisors and specialists and be accountable for the performance and results of assigned projects


  • Guide and support activities for clinical and/or commercial manufacturing in one or more defined USP areas, e.g. seed train, main cultivation, harvest or media preparation


  • Ensure efficient operation of single-use and/or stainless steel equipment for the production of therapeutic proteins with either microbial or mammalian expression systems



Key requirements:



  • Bachelor, Master’s Degree or PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related Life Science subject


  • Significant work experience in Upstream Processing in the biotech/biopharma industry e.g. single-use bioreactors and/or stainless steel systems, centrifugation, micro- and depth filtration


  • In-depth knowledge of microbial fermentation and/or mammalian cell culture


  • Very good GMP understanding


  • Excellent communication skills in English and/or German


  • Strong team orientation


  • Structured, well-organized working attitude and solution-oriented working style


  • Open-minded for new ideas and suggestions
