Exposure Management / Reinsurance


The Reinsurance Exposure Management function has the responsibility to ensure transparency about the geographic distribution and characteristics of the risks accepted through reinsurance treaties. For the immediate future, this concerns primarily natural catastrophe exposed property risks on a global basis. Axis Capital is currently re-designing its exposure management tool landscape to better serve internal stakeholders like cat modellers, underwriters or portfolio management experts.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Review existing exposure management tools with an (initial) focus on geographical information


  • Update geographical data (e.g. CRESTA zones) reference tables and scripts to transform such data, e.g. into different aggregation levels


  • Assist in the conceptual design and development of small prototypes that help to drive the general advancement of the exposure management tool landscape


  • Contribute to ad-hoc requirements of the exposure management function, e.g. related to ongoing natural catastrophe events


  • Communicate ideas and findings to relevant stakeholders



Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience:



  • Bachelor degree, preferably in natural science, mathematics or a related quantitative field


  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in problem solving in MS Excel is desired


  • Experience with programming languages/database management (VB/SQL) and knowledge in a scripting language like SQL, R, Python or Matlab is required.


  • Previous CAT Modeling experience is a plus


  • Good verbal and written communication in English is a plus


  • Must be open and enthusiastic regarding exploring and advancing an exposure management tool and flexible with changing priorities of tasks


  • Able to work independently as well as being part of international project teams


  • Working degree and time period can be discussed and will be between 50–100% for a time period of 3–6 months
