The Nestlé Product Technology Centre (NPTC) in Orbe, is the leading Centre for ideation, creation & renovation of new & existing products & services for coffee consumed in-home and out-of-home. We are on the lookout for a Master Barista to join our Global Ideation & Concept Generation team with a passion for inspiring new coffee opportunities across the worlds biggest coffee brands. In this high profile role, you will be responsible for staying at the forefront of innovation in the coffee category, bringing the outside coffee world into Nestle, inspiring the organisation into action in creating the next big thing in coffee. You will help innovate across the full Nestle coffee Brand portfolio which include, NESCAFÉ, Nespresso, STARBUCKS & Blue Bottle Coffee. You will continually raise the internal understanding of the rapidly evolving coffee category & own our Barista Atelier space to rapidly prototype new coffee concepts in partnership with our coffee development teams. 


A day in the life of a Master Barista


 



  • Be the expert & continual bridge between the out of home coffee category & Nestle, identifying new and immerging trends, technology advances, new consumer experiences and coffee shop menu developments.

  • Build an internal coffee training program to constantly raise the bar of knowledge across the organisation

  • Build strong inspirational inputs into the front end innovation process to trigger new innovation opportunities

  • Continually evolve internal Barista Atelier to have best in class rapid prototyping capabilities

  • Develop a network of global baristas who can help as a panel of trend watchers

  • Support the presentation of innovation & renovation coffee concepts to all stakeholders & visitors

  • Support competitor product intelligence both from and out of home coffee shop and when needed also the packaged coffee competitive landscape.

  • Partner with consumer insight team to bring to life consumer trends and needs with specific examples of out of home coffee experiences.

  • Offer creative support to the members of the ideation and design teams.

  • Collaborate with the Green coffee specialists and procurement.

  • Support the development of marketing communication both from coffee copy writing, development of coffee based recipes & artistic barista support for coffee visuals (photographic and video).


What will make you successful


 



  • Educational background in Food technology 

  • Minimum 5 years of Barista Experience, high level of coffee knowledge from the farm to the end cup, certification is a plus

  • Experience across all segments of the coffee category from pure black to white, hot and cold.

  • Well networked in the coffee category

  • Highly entrepreneurial, experimental & curious

  • Strong track record of helping to shape a culture of creativity and innovative thinking within an organization

  • Strong storytelling and presenting capability – easily hold an audience at all levels of the organisation

  • Ability to lead teams without direct line management

  • A great artistic eye

  • Experience in new coffee concept prototyping

  • Strong ability to prioritize, multitask and manage various day-to-day activities, working to a timeline

  • Excel in a collaborative global team environment.

  • Ability to travel 10 - 20%, domestically and internationally (in line with prevailing travel governance).
