Position Summary


 


Our Research & Development center in Konolfingen near Bern / Switzerland develops for Nestlé worldwide, new products, processes and packaging in the areas of Dairy and Nutrition. The Nestlé Product Technology Centre Dairy plans and develops Innovation & Renovation pipelines to support growth and profitability of our Dairy business via a consumer centric approach. It ensures scientific, technological, and manufacturing excellence through the development of the right competences.


 


As a “Senior Packaging Engineering Specialist”, you will be one of the few key members of the Carton Aseptic technology platform, based in Konolfingen, in charge of zone Africa Oceania Asia (AOA).


 


This platform, who’s leader is based in Switzerland, has a global responsibility, across all business, to develop and deploy the standards related to Carton Aseptic technology (equipment and material), help develop competences in our factories (representing an installed base of close to 200 Carton Aseptic packaging lines globally), establish the packaging roadmap and ensure governance of the associated project pipeline, and of course support our factories in their journey towards Manufacturing Excellence.


 


Your role will be, in AOA, to provide, on Carton Aseptic lines, technical assistance on existing installations, supporting insterilities, trouble shooting and driving competence building in our CTAG (Category Technical Application Group) and factories subject matter owners (FSMO). On new CAPEX, you will coach and provide technical support to project teams. On the innovation side, as a team member, you will support development of packaging innovation primarily, also leading industrial feasibility trials.


 


As a core member of the Carton Aseptic technology platform, you will be a key contributor of the development of equipment and material standards (design and operational standards). You will manage your community in AOA primarily by promoting sharing across factories and by helping factories set their improvement plan.

A day in the life of a Senior Packaging Engineering Specialist


 



  • Manage the Carton Aseptic community

  • Support Packaging Development projects led by the Packaging Strategic & Innovation packaging team

  • Coordinate and interact with key suppliers and internal customers on building the "fit for purpose" equipment and material standards

  • Identify and recommend cost improvements and source reduction opportunities

  • Support start up for new and existing packaging lines with regards to machine performance, efficiency, material losses, operators and maintenance capability, autonomous maintenance, compliance to specs, aseptic validation …etc

  • Deliver training and technical assistance to the markets

  • Manage escalations and stakeholder management wisely


What will make you successful


 



  • Graduate in Food Engineering, with a specialization in Dairy technology                                                                     

  • International experience & mobility: 


10 years minimum in Asia
Willing to move in 2 years to South East Asia on a local contract


 



  • Technical expertise: 


10 years minimum working at a supplier of Carton aseptic filling equipment, with a focus on food and packaging material interaction 
Combined with expertise in aseptic processing, quality assurance, quality control and new product development


 



  • Operational experience in the field of aseptic packaging technology, aseptic technology and quality assurance:


Problem solving and troubleshooting of microbiological contamination
Validation of processing and Packaging equipment for commercial sterility performance
Quality audits
Coaching & training
