Applicants are invited for a 6 months internship position in a laboratory that carries out cutting-edge oncology drug discovery pharmacology research. We seek a talented, motivated and ambitious intern wishing to put all of their skills to maximum use and grow further in their scientific career in a fast-paced drug discovery environment. You will work on global projects using a wide range of in vivo and in vitro techniques while closely interacting with your lab head and colleagues. You will actively contribute to develop novel cancer therapeutics and bring innovative targets into our world leading Oncology portfolio. The position is based at the Novartis Institutes of BioMedical Research (www.nibr.com) in Basel, Switzerland.
Your responsibilities:
• Perform, evaluate and interpret experiments under the leadership of your team colleagues and Lab Head to characterize novel therapeutic concepts for oncology projects in various in vivo and ex vivo assays
• Develop and characterize novel in vivo oncology models
• Independently search for information in scientific and technical literature
• Present and discuss your data within the team

Duration: 6 months
Minimum requirements
• Education: Recent graduate (Master degree) in a relevant life science discipline (e.g. cellular biology, molecular biology, human biology, genetics, pharmacology)
• Languages: The position requires excellent communication skills in English and/or German
• Experience/Professional requirement
- Experience in performing in vivo studies in rodents (e.g. animal handling, drug application, blood/tissue sampling, animal welfare regulations)
- Good knowledge of standard molecular and cell biology techniques (e.g. cell culture, quantitative real-time PCR, western blotting, ELISA, cell engineering)
- Strong interest in working in a creative environment where you demonstrate pro-activeness, a flexible attitude and scientific curiosity
