Because good design is essential on the mobile platform, we are looking for a product-aware engineer who appreciates good user experience. You are not only rock-solid technically, but also have a flair for apps which are a joy to use.
Our portfolio currently consists of three consumer facing apps and we plan to release several more. You will work within the mobile team together with other Android, iOS, and web developers. Together with our Android developers, you will take ownership of our Android codebase and will keep it to a high standard.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Collaborating with our designers, Android, iOS, and backend engineers as well as our product managers on all aspects of product development: strategy, brainstorming, user research, design, execution, and iteration
Fixing bugs fast and taking your time to solve hard problems well
Using test-driven development to write well-tested code
Building and maintaining our architecture that underpins our suite of apps to maximize code reuse
Taking ownership of building, releasing and maintaining our existing apps as well as releasing new apps
Identifying areas of improvement and advocating for mobile best practices
Key skills / requirements
Minimum of three years of experience developing Android apps
Experience developing with Kotlin
A sense for world class mobile products and love of great engineering
Ability to tackle problems outside your comfort zone and get things done without supervision
Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English
Desirable:
Shipped successful Android app(s), ideally still available in the Play Store
Experience running a test and release infrastructure for Android apps
Experience with functional concepts
Generalist engineering skills (web, backend, or sysadmin)
Basic knowledge of German
