At Roche, we believe it’s urgent to deliver medical solutions right now – even as we develop innovations for the future. We are passionate about transforming patients’ lives. We are courageous in both decision and action. We believe also that good business means a better world.
That is why we come to work each day. We commit ourselves to scientific rigor, unassailable ethics, and access to medical innovations for all. We do this today to build a better tomorrow.
As part of the global technical development organization, we are responsible for the development of scientific solutions to solid-state analytical issues for drug substance and oral dosage forms, at the Roche Basel site. This includes the technical development and optimization of market formulations, the scale-up of the manufacturing processes including transfers to the production sites as well as the development and manufacturing of clinical batches.
Our responsibilities include the evaluation of analytical tests to support the development and the implementation of new manufacturing technologies. The Particle Design section and the Particle and Formulation Characterization section have a strong collaboration on developing suitable analytical tests to support the development and the manufacturing processes for drug substances efficiently. You will support both teams in establishing models to correlate particle size and shape as key drivers for the flow behavior. Ultimately, we aim to allow reverse particle engineering and fast decision making for alternative co-processed drug substances with optimized flow behavior.
Your responsibilities are:
Perform a literature review to comprehend the problematics of material properties on the flow behavior.
Plan, organize and perform experiments independently as well as collaboratively
Develop and compare different models to correlate particle size and shape with flowability
Implement tools to predict the flowability of powders
Summarize and document the results and present them clearly and effectively in oral presentations and written reports
Who you are
You’re someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies. Where a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point. You are a student enrolled in the subject of Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Material Sciences, Experimental Physics or similar and have an interest in solid state material properties and modelling and simulation. You further possess:
Analytical skills, experience in particulate material properties and/or experience with solid state analytics constitutes a plus
Aptitude for experimental work, hands-on approach, reliable and accurate working style
Good knowledge of MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or Google Workspace
Basic knowledge in data analysis tools and a programming language (e.g., R, Matlab or Python)
Drive for results and problem-solving oriented personality
High level of motivation and ability to work both collaboratively as well as independently
English language, German is a plus
Application deadline is 17.08.2021.
In case the first review of your application was successful, we are going to invite you to an Online Assessment around the end of August.
