We're currently looking for a creative and experienced research associate to develop, validate and apply in vitro immunologic assays and complex 3D assay systems to the study of mucosal immunology. Together with a larger team, you will focus on developing complex in vitro co-culture systems and characterizing those systems using sophisticated imaging and molecular techniques as well as complex data analysis.
Responsibilities:
These responsibilities capture a portion of what your work will look like:
Develop, validate and apply novel in vitro systems (incl. microphysiological systems, organoids) for the discovery and validation of new immunomodulatory agents
Apply state-of-the-art imaging technologies (e.g. confocal & life cell imaging) to the analysis of in vitro test systems and handle the associated complex data
Work with primary immune cells and tissues including patient-derived material
Collaboratively design, execute, and interpret in vitro studies for the validation and characterization of targets or therapeutic agents in the area of immune mediated inflammatory diseases
Continuously improve test systems, treatment, analysis, and data evaluation. Contribute to work process optimization including data capture, storage and assay automation
Work closely with all members of the group, share duties, maintain a clean work environment and actively contribute to the positive work atmosphere within the group
Who You Are

MSc/BSc in Life Sciences (cellular/ molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology), or completion of an apprenticeship for a research associate (“Lehrabschluss”) with ≥4 years industry experience in experimental immunology
Experience with isolation and cultivation of primary immune cells and hands-on experience in immunological assays and techniques (ELISA etc.)
Expertise in the area of complex analytical technologies including in vitro imaging technologies (confocal, life cell), data analysis and result evaluations is desirable
Advanced knowledge in database handling, programming and automation and/or experience in working with tissues (e.g. histochemistry) is a plus
Hands-on experience with the development, validation and application of complex in vitro systems (incl. organoids), preferably in the area of epithelial barriers/ mucosal immunology is a plus
Accreditation to work with laboratory animals (e.g. Felasa B or LTK) is a plus
Skillfully able to interact effectively with people, strong commitment to teamwork
You can communicate fluently in English
