The Chair of Mathematics for Business and Economics focuses on the mathematical solution of business problems. We model and optimize stochastic dynamic systems, in particular via Markov decision processes and approximate dynamic programming. Our applications are in the field of operations management and revenue management in particular. We teach mathematics and optimization at the Bachelor and Master level.
Your responsibilities
Developing, managing and publishing research projects within the field of approximate dynamic programming or revenue management
Assisting in teaching of introductory math or optimization classes
Supervision of Bachelor or Master theses
Your profile
Candidates should have a strong background in Mathematics and an excellent Master's degree in (applied) Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related, quantitative field of study
Basic knowledge of optimization and/or stochastic processes
Good knowledge in at least one higher programming language (e.g. Matlab, AMPL)
Strong motivation for scientific research and teaching
Good organizational and communication skills
Successful candidates are reliable team players
Advanced English language skills are required
