The EPFL+ECAL Lab is a unit of the EPFL (Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in cooperation with ECAL (University of art and design Lausanne). Its mission is to foster innovation at the crossroads between technology, design and architecture. The Lab bases its activities along three axes: giving new meaning to emerging technologies, fueling innovation by widening the scope of design research, opening applications perspective for the society in collaboration with industry.
Junior Software Developer
Your mission :
As a junior developer you will be involved in the R&D team of the laboratory. Your mission is to provide expertise and technical contribution in the execution of projects. You will also work as creative coder in collaboration with the team of designers.
Main duties and responsibilities include :
Your tasks will include:
Functional and technical development and support on our projects and applications
Propose emerging technologies for design project, in collaboration with EPFL research labs
Implication of new projects, including collaboration with industry and technical partners
Interaction with top design schools (national and international)
Pushing the creative coding process of the project’s laboratory
Sharing your knowledge to improve the work of others by participating in group or individual trainings
Contribute to the creation of a passionate team
Your profile :

You are able to propose creative solutions to complex problems. Furthermore, you are a team-player and have a creative thinking and innovative personality.
Graduated from a Bachelor in software engineer or Master in Computer Sciences
Practical experience in software application development
Expertise in one object-oriented programming language (C++, Java, C#, …)
Expertise in game engine (Unity3D, Unreal Engine)
Knowledge in applied Computer Sciences (Machine learning, Computer vision, Image processing, Pattern recognition, Data mining, …)
Strong interest in technical choices (design, architecture…)
Good communication and self-learning skills
Ability to work both in a team and autonomously
Fluent in English, French is an asset
