Core Business Supply is assigned to source and distribute IKEA products according to the IKEA Concept Framework; and to lead the purchase development process through the categories. IKEA Supply leads balancing Sales and Supply for the value chain. We are about 22’300 people who strive towards a better everyday life for the many people. By making sure we have materials to use, suppliers to work with, distribution network for efficient transport and logistics, available products for our customers and so much more.
IKEA is a supply chain-oriented retailer. The IKEA Supply strategy is the main strategy for Core Business Supply. The IKEA Supply strategy defines the principles and the direction that will enable the IKEA supply chain to continue to be a primary contributor to the IKEA growth in the coming years. The strategy builds on our traditional strengths: people, partnership, and a trustworthy way of doing business.
“Those who do not constantly want to get better, soon cease to be good”, therefore it is so important to always improve and strive for the better.
Since not all changes lead to improvements, it is important to test and evaluate changes on a small scale before implementing them across the organisation. One of the most famous models for organisational- and process improvement, is called Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA).
In Core Business Supply, we have a similar model for driving change, and work with constant improvements to deliver to the Supply strategy, Three Roads Forward and ultimately “To create a better everyday life for the many people”.
Initiatives connected to this improvement work is gathered under one umbrella – a portfolio.
The work to keep all this together is consequently called Portfolio management and is managed by a Portfolio Management Office (PMO). PMO supports the achievement of the IKEA direction and strategies within IKEA Supply through strategic alignment by keeping all plans and key movements together to track value realization and thereby drive business performance. We are enhancing our PMO team and therefore looking for new colleagues to be part of our journey!
