General Counsel (Zurich)

Beekeeper is an award-winning scaleup defining a new software category in the Frontline Technology space. On the back of great momentum, we are now looking for an outstanding General Counsel to join our leadership team and prepare our organisation for the next growth phase, incl. a potential future IPO. 


You will head our Legal & Compliance team of currently 3 experienced lawyers and be responsible for all Legal matters, incl. Commercial, Data & Privacy, Procurement, Compliance, Intellectual Property, Corporate, and Labour Law. The new General Counsel will support our ambitious growth plans by partnering with all functions to drive business value across Beekeeper and by setting up scalable processes and systems. You will report into the CFO and work closely with the Executive Leadership team, our Data Privacy Officer and external counsel. 


Your Responsibilities 



  • Lead Beekeeper’s Legal & Compliance function to support current business needs and future growth plans achieving a high internal NPS 

  • Set up scalable processes and systems to ensure a predictable, quick and efficient turnaround of legal documents incl. NDAs, customer contracts, procurement contracts, DPAs, and RFPs

  • Review and continuously improve Beekeeper’s software licensing model

  • Support key commercial deals with business-minded and pragmatic advice driving new and profitable business   

  • Partner with Sales, Finance and other functions to optimise the Quote-to-Cash process to improve customer experience and increase speed and efficiency 

  • Lead the legal side of key corporate projects, incl. M&A and fundraising, and ensure successful closing

  • Lead full Legal Risk Management process (asses, control, monitor, report) 

  • Manage a team of currently 3 experienced international lawyers and work closely with our DPO and manage external counsel engagement within budget


What we look for in you



  • Commercial lawyer with 10-12+ years PQE and significant leadership and management experience in an international technology environment

  • Excellent understanding of B2B software licensing and SAAS business model

  • Excellent understanding of Data Protection and Privacy topics across our main jurisdictions (Switzerland, EU and US) 

  • Significant experience in M&A and public capital markets (e.g., in an IPO process or in a publicly traded company) 

  • Excellent business & commercial acumen allowing the business to move quickly to achieve its goals, while appropriately managing risk 

  • Outstanding organisation and management skills to stay on top of all Legal matters and balance a wide range of priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment 

  • Very strong communication skills, explaining legal concepts for non-lawyers and giving clear advice on complex topics  

  • Strong decision-making skills paired with self-confidence and resilience (can challenge requests from internal and external stakeholders)

  • Independent, hands-on, proactive and pragmatic working style

  • Down-to-earth team player with positive spirit and can-do attitude  

  • Native / Bilingual proficiency in German and English

  • Experience with reseller and other types of channel agreements

  • Experience in Compliance and/or Risk Management

  • Experience with Salesforce and/or SAP
