Contract length : 1 year, renewable upon agreement for up to a total of 5 years
Activity rate : 100%
Workplace : University of Lausanne

Your responsibilities

The Veening lab has an open postdoctoral position to study interactions between clinical strains of Staphylococcus aureus and the host. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate to join our research group to study the role of cell-to-cell variability in pathogenesis and identification of genes involved in cell host interaction.

Our recent work demonstrated comprehensive crosstalk between pneumococcus and epithelial cells (Aprianto et al, Genome Biology 2016). This collaborative project within the NCCR ‘AntiResist’ will develop CRISPRi-seq for clinical SAU strains and perform dual RNA-seq on clinical samples obtained from collaborators. In vitro models will be used to test the hypotheses coming out of these genome-wide screens.

Your qualifications

-    PhD thesis (or planned defense at time of application)
-    Good publication record (at least one first-author publication or preprint)
-    Curious and open mind with high motivation to excel in science
-    Strong background in genomics
