Job Description

• Execute and lead projects in line with Category and Sourcing strategies including negotiations and project/implementation plans. Supporting the creation of Sourcing and Category strategies by obtaining business requirements from stakeholders and conducting market assessments.


• Renewing contracts, updating pricing annually, refreshing internal business requirement/ metrics, maintaining supplier capabilities database, scanning the marketplace for changes and managing known or potential business impacts and developing risk mitigation plans.


• Supplier relationship management. This includes development of key performance indicators for the category of spend and supporting key operational due diligence efforts (eg, being a SME during quality audits, interpretation of contracts and obligations therein, etc.)


• Continuous Improvement. This includes both department/category business process improvements (eg, enhancements to the sourcing process, development or revision of key sourcing procedures, etc.) and personal development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Sciences required or equivalent; MBA – desired


• 5-10 years of industry experience, Global Pharma, Biotech and Life Sciences. At least 5 years in a procurement management position.


• Experience negotiating supplier agreements


• Excellent written and oral communication skills


• Demonstrated ability to support multiple, sourcing categories in a highly regulated environment (cGMP)


• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and coach a team


• Ability to influence project stakeholders


• Project Management with multidisciplinary stakeholders. Six Sigma certification or equivalent desired.


• Track record of building comprehensive category and sourcing strategies that addresses stakeholder needs and market offerings


• Fluent oral and written in English required; additional European languages such as German or French desired.

Additional Information

The Sourcing Strategic Manager will support global category/subcategory assignments Contract Manufacturing for Drug Substance, Drug Products Packaging and/or Devices. This position will report to the CMO Category Leader, manage senior stakeholders, and strategic supplier relationships. The Manager of Strategic Sourcing must have experience in Category Management and developing/executing Category Strategies. By partnering with stakeholders, this Manager of Strategic Sourcing will ensure the needs of the business are met by leading the sourcing process from identification of requirements, understanding of the supply marketplace, conducting RFx events, and planning and conducting negotiations. The successful candidate must be able to understand and translate business needs into sourcing and procurement opportunities and strategies that drive significant value to the business. The candidate must have strong project management, communication, and influence skills to ensure executive presence and the ability to present and interact with senior level management.
