For the Group Detectors, Irradiation and Applied Particle Physics we are looking for aDetector PhysicistTenure TrackYour tasks
You will be member of a group working in the field of radiation detectors for in-house particle physics experiments and operating exposure facilities at PSI
You will participate in coordination and operation of the Proton Irradiation Facility PIF, the electron monochromator EMON and the related user operation
You will partially work during nights and weekends to conduct the irradiation campaigns
You are expected to make major contributions in the detector development acitivities of the group, in particular of scintillation detectors read out with SiPMs
You will participate in particle physics experiments at PSI within the research program of the Laboratory for Particle Physics
You will present your scientific results at international conferences and in scientific journals
You will aquire third-party money
Your profileYou have a PhD degree in Physics with a strong background in particle physics combined with a broad expertise in design, construction and testing of scintillation detectors read out with SiPMs and the associated readout electronics. You have good knowledge and experience in operation of irradiation facilities and the coordination of the related user operation. A good command of English and the local language German is required. You like to work in a team of scientists and technicians.
