Performing cutting-edge research related to integrated energy systems analysis and energy markets with linkages to the broader economy and society
Development and application of advanced energy economic models to address Swiss, European and global energy sector transformations, including development of new modelling approaches and model coupling frameworks
Holistic analysis of long-term energy sector developments and climate change mitigation policies, with a particular focus on model extensions to reflect socioeconomic constraints
Scientific supervision of Master and Ph.D. students as well as Postdocs
Acquisition of research projects, leading own projects and independent collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and project partners
Dissemination and communication of research results to diverse audiences, including in both academic and non-academic literature and communities
Support in teaching activities relating to energy systems analysis and energy economics
Your profile
PhD degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, energy/environmental science, economics or computer engineering
Long-standing experience and expert knowledge in integrated energy economic modelling, optimisation tools (e.g. TIMES or equivalent framework) and/or Integrated Assessment Models
Proficient use of programming languages such as GAMS, Python, MATLAB etc.
Knowledge on model coupling (top-down and bottom-up) and on agent-based energy models as well as related to machine learning approaches and high-performance computing
Solid knowledge about techno-economic characteristics of existing and novel energy technologies and systems
Good understanding of Swiss, European and international energy and climate policy issues
Excellent writing, organisation and communication skills
Extensive publication track record, both in academic journals and wider energy and climate policy contexts
Excellent English language skills are essential. Knowledge of German language is an additional asset
