Job Description


As a Full-Stack Developer you will join a dynamic team with strong technical skills that sits at the intersection of modern software development, asset management, DevOps and machine learning.


In this fast-paced environment you will help in supplying a portfolio of modern web applications facilitating various asset and maintenance management tasks throughout CERN.


You will:



  • Participate in the system design and the overall architecture of the integrated asset management platform at CERN;

  • Design, implement and support interactive and responsive web applications provided by the section;

  • Exchange knowledge and expertise with more junior members in the team;

  • Take a proactive role in contributing and improving both the services and tools provided;

  • Provide tools and methodology for data exchange between applications.


Qualifications


Eligibility criteria:



  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State;

  • You have graduated, or are about to graduate, with a university degree (BSc or MSc level in computer science,engineering or another relevant course) and have no more than 4 years’ relevant experience after obtaining your degree;


Essential skills and experience:



  • Experience in professional software development with back-end and front-end technologies (Java EE, JavaScript, HTML5, ReactJS);

  • Proficiency in writing JavaScript single web page applications with ReactJS or similar framework;

  • Awareness of the interplay between HTML, CSS and JavaScript and the ability to dynamically build and modify elements on a page with ease;

  • Hands-on experience with continuous build and automatic testing;

  • Hands-on experience in using collaborative code repository inside a team (git, GitLab, GitHub).


Desired technical skills:



  • Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL;

  • Understanding of machine learning concepts;

  • Experience in using or administrating ERP or EAM systems. 


Please note that CERN Staff members are not eligible to apply for a Fellowship.

In return, CERN will provide you with:



  • An employment contract for between six months (minimum) up to a maximum of 36 months.

  • A stipend ranging from 5,305 to 6,586 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).

  • Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.

  • Depending on your individual circumstances: an installation grant, family, child and infant allowances as well as travel expenses to and from Geneva.

  • 2.5 days of paid leave per month.
