We are seekinga specialist with experience in environmental science and/or data science and remote sensing to join the operational branch of the Crowther Lab - a unique research group on a mission to generate globally-relevant ecosystem information that is urgently needed by land managers around the world to improve the success of ecological restoration efforts. We aim to form the bridge between theoretical ecology and direct practical action, providing on-the-ground tools to combat biodiversity loss, climate change and rural poverty. In 2020 we founded Restor – a platform rooted in science, that enables everyone everywhere to engage in a global restoration movement.
You will work directly with our Restoration Ecologists across multiple fields to help set up and manage data collection from across a network of restoration practitioners, assist in outreach and relationship management with research partners, and in the curation and quality control of GIS and environmental data.
Specifically, the Global Experiments Project Manager will assist efforts to establish large-scale data collection and monitoring of outcomes of restoration projects from across a global group of restoration partners. They will be responsible for:

We look for a highly-motivated candidate with a strong background in environmental science, conservation, with at least some basic experience in GIS and/or data science. The role will require multitasking across various projects with a cross-functional team. The individual should be able to work collaboratively and have a good grasp of both field and remote sensing data collection and curation. The candidate should be skilled at managing communication with both scientists, restoration practitioners and enjoy creating an environment that can include local communities and field partners in the development of viable, long-term projects. The work will absolutely require a passion for research and ecology and an appreciation of its role within conservation efforts around the world.
Excellent oral and written skills in English are required. Additional languages (Spanish, Portuguese) are a plus. The ideal candidate will have a Masters or PhD level university degree. Field research experience or applied experience with restoration projects or conservation NGOs is a plus but not required. The successful candidate will be employed on an annual contract with potential to renew based on performance and funding.
