The COO is responsible to implement operations in a fully aligned way with the Bank’s strategic plan in order to ensure that the Bank runs in the most efficient possible way. He/she oversees the operational and IT functions of the Bank.


The COO collaborates closely with the CEO and the Executive Committee in determining comprehensive goals and driving the operational vision, translating the strategy into actionable plans and procedures for thriving business growth, productivity and success, based in particular on efficient systems and tools infrastructure/platform that meet the best entrepreneurial standards, including keeping costs and risks under control.


The COO has a strategic role in supporting the transformation of the Bank, being a change agent, creating adherence to organizational change through involvement of key players and stakeholders.


In particular, the COO coordinates the definition of the Bank’s digital strategy, facilitates investment decisions regarding its deployment, organizes and oversees delivery.


In addition, the COO supervises the relationship with key outsourcing vendors such as Lombard Odier (core banking and back-office operations) and Amundi (technology, dealing and middle-office for Asset Management).


The COO is a permanent invitee or permanent member of the Bank Executive Committee and has leadership responsibility across Operations, IT and Security departments.

Your missions

  • Assume operational responsibilities for the Bank, ensures coordination among departments under his/her direct supervision (Operations, IT, Facilities Management, Security) and the Front departments

  • Optimize the efficiency of the services under his/her responsibility, using informal channels and creating synergies where applicable

  • Define the operational plans necessary to deliver the Bank’s strategy, integrating other department’s requirements

  • Ensure that the necessary operational procedures and guidelines are in place and that they are applied as required

  • Define, negotiate and deliver SLA to other Group’s business lines, ensuring smooth delivery of agreed services level

  • Monitor the operating cost base within budget and anticipate budgetary needs, follow the investment program of the departments under his supervision

  • Apply transversal collaboration with other departments as required to ensure tailored problem solving capabilities and adapting solutions to client's needs (both internal and external clients)

  • Establish and manage efficient relations with external vendors and providers, protecting the Group’s interests

  • Supervise all the contracts in place with external vendors, define the negotiation framework in the best interest of the Bank and ensure that execution is delivered with the high level of quality standards. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • IT Contracts

    • Market Data/Terminals

    • Operational and outsourcing partners

    • Real Estate

    • Facilities and General Services contracts (postage, electricity, …)


  • The Bank COO is a member of the Risk Committee and Security Committee of the Bank as well as of the IT Arbitration Committee. The COO may be a member of any ad-hoc Committee set-up as part as the strategy operational execution

  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team

  • Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team

Your profile

Professional experience



  • 10 years track-record in a similar position within a fast paced organization

  • Track-record demonstrating understanding of operational and IT issues in banking environment

  • In depth understanding of private bank management and related operational needs as well as a good grasp of the legal, regulatory and tax issues and inherent business risks

  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and strategic planning

  • Proven financial acumen

  • Proven track record in dealing successfully with change initiation and management preferably in entrepreneurial-type environment(s)

  • Proven experience operating an organization with significant reliance on a BPO and/or ITO outsourcer

  • Proficiency in orchestrating advancements via cross functional teams and creating synergies

  • Experience with FINMA as regulatory entity

  • Experience with / exposure to IT Infrastructure is a plus

  • Experience with / exposure to cyber security is a plus

Language requirements:



  • Bilingual (French/English) is essential both written and spoken; German, Spanish or another European language a plus


IT Skills:



  • Strong user level in all common IT tools. Strong command of MS Office

  • Knowledge at a user level of banking systems, specifically G2; Avaloq


Education:



  • University Degree (MBA, Masters or Equivalent)
