FPT Motorenforschung AG in Arbon has around 250 highly qualified employees working with commitment and
acknowledged success. As the main innovation center for FPT Industrial, the site is involved in developing FPT Industrials’
future powertrain solutions (not only in electrified powertrains, hybrids and fuel cells, but also novel engines concepts and
alternative fuels) and is therefore at the forefront of a transition towards a future of alternative propulsion systems.

Advanced Fuel Cell System Modelling & Controls Engineer

As a member of the Fuel Cell Systems Team in the Electrified Powertrain Engineering division of FPT Industrial, you will be
part of a highly skilled team driven to analyse and engineer best-in-class fuel cell systems for FPT Industrial electrified
powertrain product portfolio. You will support the engineering, development and integration of fuel cells into hybrid and full
electric powertrains.

The team is seeking a software engineer to define, design, and develop control software for fuel cell systems controllers. In
this group, your responsibilities include the implementation of controller and application software requirements, software
design execution, and testing for vehicle and non-vehicle programs.

Your tasks

  • You participate in the development of the control software for FPT fuel cell systems

  • Development, validation and maintenance of fuel cell system models

  • Integration (tool development, support) and validation of third party (non-Simulink) environment models in the
    Matlab/Simulink framework

  • Perform simulations of fuel cell systems and its components to support development activities

  • Document requirements for SW design solutions and link them to test cases that can demonstrate software
    functionality

  • Define and support complete test procedure along the development process including MIL and HIL

  • Debug hardware and software integration issues

  • Specification of control units, actuators and sensors

  • Communicate results and make presentations that describe analysis and solutions.

  • Collaborate closely with internal departments and external laboratories and universities.

Your profile

Basic Qualifications:

  • University degree in relevant engineering or science discipline.

  • Comprehensive experience in physical modelling, simulation, and preferably model-based controls

  • Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, heat transfer and electrochemistry

  • 5+ years in modelling of fuel cell system components

  • Strong understanding of common control development practices, performance issues, and trade-offs.

  • Very good understanding of CAN, LIN, and other common automotive networks

  • Experience working with automotive controllers, sensors, and actuators

  • Experience with application development, software build and release activities
