The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of matter and materials, energy and environment and human health. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2100 people.
You will analyze time-resolved crystallographic data, build structural models of intermediate functional states and connect these states using computational simulations. Within an interdisciplinary team of scientists, you will support our efforts in establishing time-resolved serial crystallography at the Swiss Light Source and the Swiss X-Ray Free Electron Laser. Together with our industrial partner leadXpro you will contribute to create an unique technology capability – time-resolved structural interaction mapping of drug binding. For a position in the time-resolved Structural Biology Group in the Laboratory of Biomolecular Research (LBR) we are looking for aPostdoctoral FellowCrystallographerYour tasks
Evaluation of time-resolved crystallographic data
Development of methods to connect structural intermediates by molecular simulations
Serial crystallographic data collection and analysis
General support of these areas at leadXpro, LBR, SLS and SwissFEL
Your profileWe expect a completed PhD in Biochemistry, Biology or Physics with additional post-doctoral education seen as an extra qualification. The ideal candidate is an experienced X-Ray crystallographer with a track record of successful structure determination. Additional knowledge in quantum chemical or molecular dynamic simulations documented by scientific publications, knowledge of time-resolved spectroscopy and structural biology of membrane proteins is a plus.We offerOur institution is based on an interdisciplinary, innovative and dynamic collaboration. You will profit from a systematic training on the job, in addition to personal development possibilities and our pronounced vocational training culture. If you wish to optimally combine work and family life or other personal interests, we are able to support you with our modern employment conditions and the on-site infrastructure.
