To join our Global HSE Team we are looking for an Occupational & Behavioral Safety Lead who will define and prepare policy updates for both occupational and behavioral safety to improve elements of the HSE management system, to build safety competence of Syngenta HSE professionals in deployment of safety policies, and coach them on response to specific issues/ incidents and to review Syngenta safety performance, identify issues and then develop specific improvement proposals.
Accountabilities :
• To actively lead or participate in strategic safety projects and initiatives, solving complex problems. This will include regular interactions with our Safety Center of Expertise, HSE professionals, subject matter experts and Syngenta leaders.
• To develop and deliver specialist safety training for HSE professionals and Syngenta expert groups.
• To develop a Behavioral Based Safety framework and support deployment of training and tools within the organization.
• To manage safety culture assessment programs and provide governance. Train, mentor and coach potential and existing safety culture assessors.
• Establish “communities of practice” for Occupational and Behavioral Safety.
• To provide expertise for incident investigation and root cause analysis. Lead/ advise investigations on request for incidents with high actual or potential severity.
• To participate in assigned HSE audits to assess safety compliance and effectiveness of HSE management systems and formulate appropriate recommendations to audit findings.
Ideal skillset & experience for the role:
• Master’s degree in engineering, chemistry or biology, or professional equivalent, with some form of safety or process safety certification.
• Experience in Occupational and Behavioral Safety.
• Solid experience in an international environment, Seeds or Crop Protection manufacturing operations, or engineering projects.
• Demonstrated understanding of core safety topics including: safety culture, human factors, management of change, fire and explosion hazards, chemical reaction hazards, risks assessment, permit to work, working at height, confined space entry, machine safety, safety instrumented systems, pressure systems, automation, emergency management, personal protective equipment, auditing, incident classification, incident investigation, root cause analysis and learning from experience.
• Broad understanding of general HSE regulatory requirements around the world in different types of facility. Able to quickly assimilate and apply new technical and regulatory knowledge.
• Proven knowledge in auditing to enable identification of strengths and weaknesses in HSE management and compliance systems.
• Proficient in English, essential. Additional foreign language skills, preferred.
