Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of four Nestlé Institutes: Material Sciences; Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences and Packaging Sciences. As an “R&D Technician”, you will organize, execute experiments, and communicate results in R&D projects

A day in the life of a R&D Technician


 



  • Contribute to good lab operation including safety and quality aspects

  • Prepare food samples for physico- and bio-/chemical analysis

  • Prototype in experimental kitchen

  • Participate to the organization and planning of tasks

  • Document and archive obtained results including writing of experimental reports in English
     


What will make you successful


 



  • 2-4 years’ experience as laboratory technician in the field of physico-chemistry e.g. rheology (liquid/solid), differential scanning calorimetry, water activity measurements, particle size measurements, starch & protein physicochemical characterization, powder characterization techniques (flowability, wettability, particle size, surface area)

  • Skilled in use of computers and physicochemical experimentation

  • Recognize when an improvement area exists, or a strength can be applied, and act accordingly

  • Seek to improve performance in a given direction and precisely fix a demanding level of results

  • Proactive, not only reacting to situations but also anticipating future opportunities or problem, and act upon them in advance
