About the Team
We are dynamic multi-cultural team of 15 people, who function in an agile setting ensuring that each member can support the needs of the company to their best capabilities while ensuring that we implement geospatial risk insights by using sophisticated mathematical approaches for spatial and temporal problem solving.
Our current focus is on natural catastrophe modeling. However, we are rapidly growing our reach to economical, financial and anthropogenic attributes. As we are transitioning to becoming a digital knowledge company we are integrating outstanding new datasets, approaches and solutions.
As a new team member, you will be part of the Geospatial Risk Insights team in the Geo, Cat Perils & Cyber unit, driving projects and solutions for various lines of the business.
As a group of specialists from different fields we lead projects and deliver solutions implementing ESRI GIS and Open Source GIS software platforms based on key performance indicators. Our innovative approach is a core factor in allowing Swiss Re to excel at re and primary insurance solutions involving geo-spatial data and attributes. You will join a sophisticated group of data scientists and developers to perform state of the art products for the insurance market.
About You
You have completed a Masters or Higher degree in Earth Sciences, Engineering or a related scientific field with a strong emphasis in Geo-Science/Geoinformatics.
multiple years of experience in Open Source GIS tools and server frameworks (Geo-Server, Map-Server, Data lake) and ESRI GIS tools and core products.
You have built cross-functional solutions and API with datasets of various accuracy, precision and format.
Vector clouds and possibly remote sensing data are part of your portfolio.
You have developed new products in the GIS or geo landscape.
You have used AI and Deep Learning for cloud-based geo problem solving using Python.
Understanding the precision and accuracy of data is your second nature.
Strong project management skills
Ability to work accurately and deliver key success.
Closely work with partner and focus on integrating their needs.
Lead junior members, mentor and educate them.
Strong analytics and interest in assessing requirements and ask clarifying questions.
Strong technical problem solving skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills in German and English is a must.
Willingness in a collaborative and agile environment
