Job Description

Your Team 

For the migration of the Avaloq Banking Suite into a cloud-based distributed system, we are looking for a passionate, hands-on senior software architect, who guides us modelling, managing and maintain data in the different environments.

You are a member of the small central architecture team that drives the cross-functional evolution of our platform together with the product teams who are the home of most developers and domain architects. You are responsible for business, data and process architecture design principles of the software that the product teams build.

You work independently with great autonomy and deliver results in agile projects together with different teams. You help your internal and external customers succeed by solving their real-world problems. You strive for perfection but remain pragmatic. You prefer to work with source code and other technical artifacts over PowerPoint.

Your mission 

• You drive the alignment of the data model across our different platforms (Wealth, Engage, Insight and Core) to ease the integration and communication between them.


• You guide the product teams in designing and developing their data model based on domain driven design concepts.


• You code prototypes, write some production code in innovation projects, and review code.


• You help shaping “ready to use” APIs to enable the communication and data synchronization in-between our solutions and with third-party providers.


• You define how to manage data lifecycle, data classifications, anonymizations of data and how to keep data growth under control.


• You evolve and establish patterns regarding data storage, e.g. relational vs NoSQL, caching of data, structuring of data, data visualization.


•  You help to make the product compliant regarding data privacy guidelines, such as GDPR and the HK PDPO.


• You assist with the definition of the architecture strategy and roadmap.


• You communicate proactively with customers, partners, prospects, and all roles within Avaloq.

Qualifications

What you need 

• MSc or PhD in software engineering or related area.


• Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with data modeling and database design in line with domain driven design (DDD) practices


• Breadth in established and emerging data technologies including consideration like security, cloning, restore and backup of data.


• Good current programming skills in Java or other general-purpose language.


• 5+ years of professional experience in banking area.


• Fluent English

You will get extra points for the following  (max. 3 bullet points)

• Experience to evolve a monolithically system into a microservices regarding data splitting


• Hands-on experience with cloud (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) and container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).


• Experience working for a SaaS company, banking knowledge, experience with ERP solutions, database knowledge, and open-source contributions are a plus.
