Senior Clinical Science Director, New Therapy Areas
About the department
As a key driver of Novo Nordisk’s future growth, International Operations (IO) is the largest operational unit in Novo Nordisk and covers more than 190 countries and 95% of the world’s population. Around 430 million people are living with diabetes in these countries and an estimated 570 million live with obesity. We serve 25 million people each day living with chronic diseases. Novo Nordisk International Operations, Strategic Operations, is head quartered in Zürich, Switzerland.
The position
You will be responsible to lead the scientific activities planned for all projects within the new therapy areas (TAs), encompassing CVD, CKD and Alzheimer’s disease. You will gather insights from relevant KOLs across IO and facilitate medical guidance to the clinical operations teams, enabling them to successfully deliver on trials within these areas.
To ensure IO Clinical Development delivers on all projects within the new TAs, you will ensure that dedicated medical staff are available across all 16 clinical development centres (CDCs) across IO to support projects. It will be your responsibility to ensure that teams will be fully trained, with the right operational framework.
You will lead the new TA medical teams in a matrix environment, setting direction, ensuring alignment, best practise sharing and providing support, when required. You will identify and develop a network of KOLs across IO, who will advise and guide entry into these new TAs and work with the new TA medical teams across CDCs to highlight key medical issues that could impact operational deliverables.
As a subject matter expert within the new TAs, you will ensure that the new medical teams are equally trained, to enable them to act as local medical experts for the local clinical teams and investigators.
To ensure robust scientific support to clinical operations teams, you will engage with the medical and scientific teams for the new TAs within Global Medical Affairs and IO-SO, Clinical Medical and Regulatory (CMR) heads in the regions and CDCs within IO.
You demonstrate independence, innovation and initiative, when prioritising planning and performing tasks either assigned by management or initiated by oneself. You always perform tasks in compliance with Novo Nordisk Way of Management.
Qualifications
You hold an MD or PhD degree in healthcare and bring a strong background in clinical research and clinical operations.
You are ideally trained and certified in ICH GCP.
You bring a strong clinical background, with experience managing patients and a good knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug development process.
You bring a strong scientific background, are comfortable at presenting to the scientific community and can pick up in-depth scientific knowledge related to new TAs with ease.
You demonstrate cross-functional leadership experience and can successfully communicate and negotiate in a matrix environment.
