Mission



  • Responsible for optimizing the exploitation of IOC broadcast rights by the Rights Holding Broadcasters.


 


Main responsibilities
The Broadcast & Media Rights unit (BMR) is responsible for the sales, sub-license and exploitation of IOC broadcast rights (Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, Olympic Channel) by Rights Holding Broadcasters (RHB) all year-round. 


As part of the BMR unit, the Broadcast and Media Rights Manager will be responsible for a portfolio of territories/RHBs as well as certain areas of expertise (e.g. commercial exploitation, Internet Monitoring Programme, Value in Kind…).


 


Broadcast Rights Exploitation



  • Across all areas of expertise, ensure the most effective exploitation of broadcast rights by RHBs (e.g. commercial exploitation, Internet Monitoring Programme, Value in Kind…). 

  • Support in defining the localisation strategy of the Olympic Channel and potentially other IOC’s digital properties through strategic partnerships with RHBs and Olympic Family stakeholders (e.g. NOC, OCOG…).

  • Manage the implementation, monitor and adjust the strategic partnerships to increase the contribution of RHBs and Olympic Family stakeholders to the wider IOC digital strategy.

  • Manage RHBs in their sublicensing obligations to implement a global broadcast platform and fulfil the Olympic Charter principle of reaching the widest possible audience.

  • Responsible to setup processes for and ensure rights delivery on allocated areas of expertise.

  • Anticipate new opportunities in the exploitation of broadcast rights to create additional value for RHBs.


 


Broadcast Rights Sales and Sub-license



  • Support the BMR unit in the sales of IOC broadcast rights (Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, IOC produced content) in allocated territories (e.g. coordination of tender processes).

  • Develop a strong relationship with allocated RHBs and understanding of allocated territories.

  • Remain aware of market development that can influence the sales of broadcast rights or create possible new source of revenue.


 


Training, language and IT competences 



  • University degree or equivalent in business school or related field, higher education qualification (Master’s degree, etc.) a plus.

  • Minimum 5 years in a commercial/business environment, preferably working for a broadcaster, digital platform, sports agency or sport’s governing body.

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the worldwide broadcast and media industry.

  • English fluency both spoken and written; French and/other language an asset.

  • Excellent command of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and of corporate tools and compliance with internal usage rules (Sharepoint, Outlook, etc).

  • Familiarity with the ‘Olympic Movement’, a plus.

  • Good ability to analyse and summarise.

  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.

  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a “can do” mentality.

  • Attention to detail and ability to interact and communicate with team members.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.

  • Ability to handle tight deadlines and resolve difficult situations and problems creatively.

  • Strong sense of organization and pro-activity.

  • Strong client service- and results-orientation.

  • Rigorous professional ethics; sense of initiative; ability to work in a dynamic environment and still respect deadlines.

  • Ability to consider interpersonal differences as a source of added value and interact constructively with all kinds of people and flexible in working with a multitude of internal/external/agency constituents.

  • Excellent command of the corporate tools and follow the internal user rules (Livelink, Outlook, etc.).
