As a Global Category Leader you will lead multifunctional/ multinational sourcing teams and projects to achieve contracts, orders and agreements that are aligned with agreed sourcing strategies to deliver maximum value business outcomes and agreed targets, working closely with Procurement Business Partners and internal clients. All HR & Professional Services footprint Categories fit within the leadership of this role (Temporary and Permanent employee hires, Learning & Development, Management Consultancy, Legal services.)


Accountabilities



  • Responsible for leadership and direct line management of a number of FTEs and provision of functional and strategic direction, coaching and motivation to a wider matrix team of regional Category Managers and Business Partners covering a portfolio

  • Through detailed, expert spend analytics and understanding of the supply market(s) and internal business requirements, develop and deliver Category strategies aligned to achieving business goals. Strategies will incorporate the most efficient use of the various buying channels (Strategic Sourcing, P-Cards, e-catalogues etc.)

  • Manage compliance with procurement processes regarding e-tendering, Supplier Relationship Management and contract management

  • Create and maintain a detailed business focused Category strategy

  • Build strong relationships with, internal clients and the Procurement Business Partner organization, in order to ensure appropriate strategies are developed

  • Leading major negotiations

  • Identify and share best practices and develop benchmarks that compare internal purchasing performance to industry best practice

  • Develop, maintain and monitor common, efficient, ethical purchasing processes

  • Ownership verification & agreement of actual financial performance of the cate- gory, including agreement and verification of savings delivery, budget & forecast data

  • Act as an Ambassador of the Procurement organization

 

Qualifications

 

Ideal experience for the job



  • Commercial qualification degree e.g. MBA

  • Capability in developing sourcing strategies and leading their implementation

  • Strong procurement experience in a global senior procurement role, in depth knowledge of procurement procedures and processes and solid knowledge of the external trends and best practice.

  • Leadership of complex global sourcing teams and projects (geographically dispersed and cross-functional with proven results)

  • Ability to develop meaningful performance measures for categories with stakeholders

  • Deep knowledge of the relevant supply markets

  • Strategy development and implementation

  • Development of strategic relationships with suppliers, proven record of success in negotiations with suppliers at high levels

  • Contract management skills

  • Ability to influence peers and indirectly managed teams

  • Strong communication and presentation competencies

  • Working in a multi-national, multi-cultural environment
