The Platform for Global Public Goods (PGPG) acts as a systems leader and platform curator on the environment and natural resource security, the future of food, development finance and sustainable development, including helping to organise the World Economic Forum’s Sustainable Development Impact Summit. The centre seeks to bring innovation and frontier approaches to help the international system be more agile and equipped to respond to today’s challenges by creating market-based incentives for 100million farmers.


Within the centre, the Nature Action Agenda (NAA) and the Food Systems Initiative (FSI) are working to catalyse momentum and action towards net zero, nature positive pathways through a new platform initiative, 100 Million Farmers: Transitioning towards net-zero, nature-positive food systems (“100 Million Farmers”).


100 Million Farmers is seeking a Specialist who will support the coordination of internal and external meetings, internal operations, and events support (2021 includes critical event milestones, such as the UN Food Systems Summit, the CBD COP, COP26 in which it will be essential for the initiative to have a strong presence, in addition to Forum-led events). The Specialist will also be required to maintain a project management tracker and update digital assets (internal and external websites, CRM system, marketing materials, etc.) for the project.


Reporting lines and interactions:


The role is based in Geneva within the World Economic Forum. The incumbent will report to the Community Lead, Food and Nature.


The incumbent will be expected to liaise with stakeholders, both internally and externally, and ensure relationships are well maintained.


Breakdown of main responsibilities



  • Coordination, team and community support (60%):

    • Provide coordination support to the project and related staff, including preparing progress updates, arranging conference calls and meetings, taking minutes, drafting meeting agendas and overseeing supporting material, tracking partners’ status and latest interactions, and driving follow-up as needed

    • Support the team in managing constituent lists and ensuring data is up to date and coordinated

    • Support outreach efforts to community members as required

    • Support virtual and physical events organisation and event-related database management, to include Salesforce coding, managing the invitation and registration process and related follow-ups using adequate Forum platforms, and providing technical assistance during events

    • Provide technical support for the smooth delivery of virtual meetings and events, including coordination of rehearsals, speaker briefings and the use of digital tools for audience interaction (polls, Q+A, etc.).

    • Support engagement-related database management, including Salesforce tracking

    • Any other coordination and administrative duties as needed




  • Maintain and update digital and marketing assets (10%)

    • Responsible for maintaining and regularly updating internal and external website presence

    • Coordination and distribution of marketing and project materials

    • Support in the management of TopLink communications

    • Proactively support the initiative’s communication strategy by proposing blogs, social media presence and innovative marketing opportunities




  • Proactively support the continuous improvement and development of the strategy and implementation of 100 Million Farmers (5%)

    • Provide innovative ideas

    • Encourage strong collaboration with other Forum and non-Forum initiatives, communities and platforms, such as the Regional Food Innovation Hubs, Champions for Nature, One Planet Business and Biodiversity (OP2B), Global Shapers/YGL/Social Entrepreneur and Global Innovators communities, and others




  • Provide ad-hoc support to the events coordination and support for the Nature-Action Agenda (10%)


The successful candidate will be assessed on:

Preferred requirements and experience:



  • Master’s in business administration, international development, environment or food, finance, economics or similar Minimum of 2-3 years’ professional experience in a project management/coordination or event management at a relevant business or not-for-profit organisation including consulting or academia

  • Experience working on environmental/sustainability, nature, or food systems is preferred

  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to step back and ask the ‘why’ question is highly helpful

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Proactive, self-starting, with a positive and constructive attitude towards getting things done

  • Excellent time management skills

  • A high level of computer literacy and comfort in Microsoft packages and other digital platforms is required; experience working with Salesforce would be an asset

  • Passion for impact and drive for making a positive difference
