About the role & team
You would be part of our Costing Methods and Analytical Services (CMAS) team within Swiss Re Institute's Portfolio Underwriting unit. We are a very dynamic and diverse team, and we find collaboration, transparency and agility very important. Sharing these values is a key selection criteria. Our team is spread across the world, your role will be based in Zurich. We advise on major underwriting decisions and further their implementation in costing new business. We assist the deployment of the company 's capital to the most promising underwriting risk pools. There is close collaboration with colleagues from underwriting, finance and risk management functions.
Further responsibilities are:
•Definition and improvement of the costing methods, including the review, calibration and deployment of costing parameters
•Creation and delivery of data products, services and analytics
•Implementation of projects with strategic implications for Swiss Re
•Advancement of our company´s thought leadership
We are seeking for an Actuary with (re-)insurance expertise to assist with the extraction of primary insurance policy premium and loss bordereau data to advance costing, reserving, and claims handling. You will bring in your actuarial and data management knowledge while working closely with a team of data engineers and actuaries to harvest standardized bordereau data. You will work on specific actuarial and analytics use cases in collaboration with several other departments and promote new data products. Furthermore, you will analyze current market and portfolio developments and develop sophisticated intelligence about future trends that will influence Swiss Re's capital allocation. The CMAS team performs many of the analytical tasks on a state-of-the-art data platform.
About you

•University degree with a strong quantitative background in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, finance, or related area
•Actuarial certification (e.g. FIA, CAS, SAV, DAV) or advanced in taking actuarial exams
•Some years experience in the (re-)insurance industry (focus on non-life)
•Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to balance speed and perfection
•Strong communication and collaboration skills including ability to guide more junior team members
•Experience in business (requirement) analysis and can deal with service needs and operational demands
•Highly motivated and continuously thrive for improvement combined with a high level of integrity
•Preferably have worked in an agile set-up with team members spread over different locations
•Proficiency in Python and/or experience in SQL is a big plus
