Job Description

As part of the Oncology Drug Discovery Biology group of NIBR Oncology, you get the opportunity to work on projects that can change the life of cancer patients. By using a variety of molecular and cell biology approaches you will actively contribute to the biological understanding of cancer targets, the development of suitable assays, the optimization and characterization of candidate therapeutics and their progression to clinical testing.



Your tasks:



- Assume an instrumental role in the validation of novel targets and the development of innovative therapeutic concepts and molecules



- Independently generate hypotheses, design, perform, analyze, interpret experiments and communicate data under some guidance of your team lead



- Recognize problems and provides input on solutions; suggest innovative approaches to established procedures to progress key drug discovery, technology, and/or early development projects



- Engage in manifold collaborations with other teams within Oncology and NIBR (Drug Discovery Biology, Enzymology and Biochemistry, Pharmacology) and show scientific curiosity, initiative, commitment, flexibility and good organization



- Efficiently contribute to maintaining a functional laboratory, technical equipment and tools




Minimum requirements

What you'll bring to the role:



- Qualification as Lab Technician (apprenticeship or ”Fachhochschule”) or first degree (MSc, BSc) in Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology or another relevant subject area



- ≥2 years practical work experience in biomedical research gained in an industry or academic laboratory.



- Proficiency and hands-on experience in applying a wide range of cellular/molecular biological and/or biochemical methods (in particular RNAi, CRISPR, qRT-PCR, cloning, cell culture, transient/stable cell line generation, immunoblotting, ELISA, enzymatic assays, protein purification)



- Good knowledge of cancer signaling/biology and/or experience with medium-throughput, plate-based assays is considered a plus



- Highly collaborative and self-motivated teammate, with excellent communications skills in English (oral/written) and proven ability to effectively collaborate
