  • PhD Position in the area of Bio-inspired Polymer Membranes

AMI's Polymer Chemistry and Materials Group (Prof. Christoph Weder) invites applications for a PhD position in the area of bio-inspired polymer membranes.

The research project involves the fabrication and investigation of bio-inspired membranes with switchable and directional water transport properties. The targeted materials are potentially useful for packaging and filtration systems. The project is funded by a SPIRIT (Swiss Programme for International Research by Scientific Investigation Teams) grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation and is a collaborative effort with two research groups at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok (Thailand).

Applicants must have a master’s degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Polymer or Materials Science, or Chemistry, and wish to pursue interdisciplinary research involving complex polymer processing and the specialized characterization techniques. Close collaboration with our Thai collaborators and an internship abroad are important aspects of the project. AMI offers very attractive employment  conditions and an outstanding infrastructure in a new research facility.

The position will be filled as soon as possible. Please send your CV, motivation letter, and contact information of at least two references as one PDF file via E‐mail to ami‐applications@unifr.ch with the subject title “PhD Position Membranes”.
