ViaSat is looking for an Intercarrier Manager to help develop effective fiber optic connectivity solutions and infrastructure solutions for ViaSat’s third generation terabit per second satellite networks.


The Intercarrier Manager will act as the primary interface between ViaSat and fiber optic network and infrastructure providers throughout Europe,  Activities will include but not be limited to: identification of product and service availability and options; development of a negotiation and sourcing strategy; collaboration with ViaSat engineering for network planning and design; contribute to the development of business and deployment roadmaps for the European network; and driving strategic sourcing decisions primarily in Europe and globally as needed. The Intercarrier Manager will lead and support the development, implementation and management of strategies to provide the ViaSat network with best in class transport pricing, optimal flexibility, and unmatched delivery and availability performance. Working closely with Network Engineering, the Intercarrier Manager will communicate and implement strategies, contracts, and pricing with an overall focus on maintaining long term partner relationships and managing total costs of ownership to a minimum.


Responsibilities



  • Collaborate with ViaSat Network Engineering to coordinate suppliers and review supplier technology and services roadmaps.

  • Lead identification of sourcing options for backbone fiber connectivity in Europe.

  • Work closely with engineering and planning teams to generate RFI/RFP and requirements documents.

  • Develop negotiation approach, fallback positions, acceptable terms and conditions through to closure.

  • Lead the business negotiation process with internal partners and suppliers.

  • Own closure on contract.

  • Preferred Supplier Management:

  • Identify, qualify and formalize which suppliers are ViaSat preferred supplier list.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment.

  • On-time Delivery: Measure, report, and action to improve delivery performance.

  • This will be driven by identification and mentorship of strategic partnerships and will require strong business development and project management skillsets.


Requirements



  • BA/BS or equivalent in technical related field with at least 10 years of relevant experience.

  • At least 5 years of experience in telecommunications and networking services.

  • Travel and work with US (evening work).

  • Prior leadership or management experience is preferred.

  • Must be analytical and results focused.

  • Business and technical experience in fiber optic metro or long haul networks, their operation, and associated performance and cost models.

  • Travel up to 50%

  • Fluent in English and at least one other European language, preferably two
