Job Responsibilities


We have a new opportunity for a Sales and Business Development professional with 8+ years experience in airborne, satellite or military communications systems. If you are interested in expanding your career, then perhaps Viasat is the right company for you. As a Business Development Manager, you will create opportunities and increase market share by building industry, institutional and partner relationships. You will conduct market research, develop sales strategies, define and submit winning proposals to targeted opportunities, and support the development of customer contracts and negotiations. Viasat is looking for a creative, self-motivated and proactive person with existing customer contacts to helps us continue to build and grow and a leading Business Developer to be at the forefront of what makes us successful.


Responsibilities Include:



  • Identify and evaluate business opportunities in current and new markets with an ability to bring, align and develop global customer relationships

  • An ability to understand customers’ complex requirements and effectively offer feasible solutions

  • Solicit and document customer requirements as well as support the identification of solutions to meet customer needs in support of the development of product and services roadmap

  • The ability to define business models/cases for new product and service sales

  • Identify funding opportunities from Institutional entities (e.g ESA, EC)

  • Manage bidding processes and be the owner of the proposal preparation process (gather technical and management contributions and be the author of business section)

  • Build effective relationships with colleagues from product, service, engineering, and business management to understand quantitative and qualitative drivers to financial evaluation

  • Be able to understand customers’ complex requirements and effectively offer feasible solutions with the company technology competencies and business opportunities

  • Analyze and integrate new and complex opportunities and financial returns into financial plans, working closely with our financial team


Requirements



  • A bachelor’s in engineering or information technology degree or proven working experience in relevant areas

  • Minimum 8+ years of working experience in international sales and leading small teams and services

  • Proven history of existing customers relationships and the ability to build and forged new ones

  • Understanding of Institutional entities procurement processes

  • The ability to understand customers’ complex needs and effectively offer feasible solutions

  • A proactive person who is able to take initiative and ownership from end to end to and define business models/cases for new products or services sales

  • Excellent marketing communication skills with internal and external stakeholders

  • The ability to prepare presentations and supporting materials for both customers and internal business reviews

  • Advanced excel skills with demonstrated experience in dynamic financial modeling and analysis, valuation modeling and techniques

  • Wide knowledge of different business models and the creativity to continuously explore new and different financial models, metrics, and valuation methods.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% to worldwide locations.

Preferences



  • Knowledge of the European satellite industry market

  • History of existing customer base with a proven success rate of forging new customer relationships.

  • Experience with satellite /teleco systems

  • A passion for working in a fast-paced dynamic environment and able to adapt quickly to changing market conditions.
