Job description


Being an MSF Project Coordinator is a truly stimulating and rewarding experience. From conducting exploratory missions to managing teams of hundreds of staff, as an MSF Project Coordinator you will plan, manage and develop our field projects, ensuring that all the departments work together to provide high-quality care, whatever the needs.


Today our needs for Project Coordinators are based mainly in Central America projects (Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala). The project coordinator will work closely with the country coordination team to manage the project operations, team and security.


In Central Americas, MSF Switzerland provides mainly direct comprehensive care to victims of violence through a mix of strategies with general medical services, routine violence screening, psychological first aid and health promotion added to an operational research aiming to advocate for policy change.


We might have depending on the needs project focus in IDP’S, refugees, epidemy (COVID), treatment of endemic/epidemic as Mesoamerican endemic/epidemic Nephropathy (MeN), natural disaster…


Responsability



  • Represent MSF within the scope of the project, in close consultation with the Head of Mission



  • Develop institutional contacts with national partners at the project level (civil society, military authorities, local NGOs, Ministry of Health, etc.) as well as with media in order to obtain all information & agreements necessary to integrate MSF programmes into the local context



  • Monitor the political and humanitarian situation in the project region to ensure that MSF’s charter & policies are respected with regard to national staff, populations, authorities & partners



  • Evaluate needs by identifying the health status of the target population, by analysing the context (environment, actors involved, negotiations for access, etc.) & associated risks and constraints in order to define project priorities and goals, & calculate what material, human and financial resources are needed



  • Define medical operational strategies & oversee the entire project management (log, paramed, med, HR, fin, advocacy and communication activities)



  • Implement security guidelines & ensure staff & project security



  • Oversee correct application of HR policies and associated processes (recruitment, training, briefing/debriefing,·evaluations,  and internal communication)


You will not be facing these challenges alone. Other MSF team members, both international and locally hired staff, will provide technical support, including extensive guidelines and protocols.


Your Profile



  • Experience           At least two years working in MSF missions in various types of contexts, or equivalent experience as a Field Coordinator with another NGO



  • Languages            Fluency in Spanish (minimum C1) and English (minimum B2)



  • Knowledge             Computer literacy

  • Availibility            ASAP preferably but later also as recurrent needs: 9 to 12 months for Honduras / minimum 6 months for other projects



  • Desirable skills     International Experience in various types of contexts  // Higher education degree (social sciences, international relations or another relevant field)
